“Only Jewish museum in the Middle East/North Africa”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

This is a special place. Jews have a long history in Morocco and the museum tells their story and displays a great many artifacts. We were lucky enough to meet the curator and were surprised to learn that there had been Jewish Berbers! It's a slice of history very worth knowing.

“Too much effort for too little”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

The place was very far away. I took the tram to Oasis and then walked for about 1 km or 1 mile. The place was not huge. I concluded that one should go only if you had to go to every Jewish museum. Otherwise, it could be skipped.

“Delightful”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

The museum held a large number of artifacts from centuries of Jewish life in Morocco. The clothes were impressive. But the collection of bimahs and other synagogue artifacts were one part amazing, and two parts sad. At least they are doing their best to preserve Moroccan Jewish heritage before it is lost.

“If you like ethnic or Jewish History this is a must”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Though the musuem is not located in the down town area and one will need to hire a taxi, it is well worth the visit. Located in a residential area was interesting in and of itself, the musem is modern (recently renovated) has well designed display areas with many exhibits that tell the history of Moroccan Jews. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Though I am not Jewish I enjoyed the experience to learn more about the different peoples that made up historic and modern Morocco.

“One of a kind”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

The Museum just reopened after major renovation and it is a delight. Our guide was the curator, whose passion for Moroccan Jewish history was contagious. (The signs are in French and Arabic, so we were fortunate to walk through with an English speaker.) There is a lovely display of jewelry made by Jewish artisans as well as a souk-size jeweler's workshop. Other exhibits illustrate religious and family life. The museum is located in a residential area. If your party is three persons or less, you can take a petit taxi from the city center for 25 dirham (about $3.00). As we were leaving, a large group of teenagers was arriving for a school field trip and I was happy to see that is it not just a tourist attraction.
