The new tramway runs through the square now, adding a touch of modern glamour to the French-era buildings. Even in these colder winter months, the place is full at busy times.

This is a place to come for a half an hour, unless you're a real architecture buff. It's one of several Casablanca attractions that are within a 5 or 10 minute walk from each other.

We couldn't even get a feel for what this might look like, because it is fenced in and under construction. We had to walk all the way around it to try to find a place to catch a taxi.

Very nice and large square. Green. Interesting architecture. Very pleasant to walk through. It's hard to miss it.

The style of the buildings is called "Mauresque", I understand. I live in Morocco, so have been here often before and had a walk through the square last Saturday during a trip to Casa. I got approached by the guys wanting to scare the pigeons for me, but, been there done that years ago. It's just nice hanging around, maybe chatting to some of the young Moroccans during their illicit trysts on the square.

This is the hub of Casablanca. You will pass through it at some point. Medina and big hotels nearby.
