“Average experience, good breakfast buffet”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

They have a slightly newer building with presumably nicer accommodation; I was staying in one of the older rooms surrounding the pool. The room was suitable: very comfortable beds, mini-bar, bathtub, hairdryer, TV with several channels including BBC. Paint was peeling off the wall behind the door; in spite of this it did not feel terribly shabby.

The lobby feels dated, and, to some degree, so does the pool area. Nevertheless, the outdoor patio dining is really pleasant and the pool is nice. Note that there is no direct access to the beach; furthermore, sunbathing isn't common on the beach. You may find the beach full of people exercising and playing futball/soccer.

Very good breakfast buffet served.

Great wasted potential. Riad Salam seemed like a great hotel.
The hotel needs a lot of maintenance.
Water flowing everywhere in the room. Fridge not working.
Unfortunately, the staff always played deaf.
Nothing was done in spite of our daily requests to fix the problem.
No apology for not doing their job.
The room has a client survey form but reception had no interest in taking the completed survey!
The best part was the breakfast.
However, be aware that they start clearing the buffet away by 9:30am.
No help with a map of Casablanca or directions.
Overall, disappointing.
If not for the breakfast, it would be rated 1. I'd rate it as a 2.

I was on a short vacation for a couple of days there and the hotel seemed to be nice from the lobby and decorations. However, the stuff are not professional at all. They are very slow to respond to guests. I was surprised that the hotel has no access to the beach! although it is a beach hotel. The primary swimming pool is dirty and you have to pay a lot of money to go to the other swimming pool. The WIFI is only in the lobby and very slow. They said that the room has a nice view on a garden but it turned to be a small piece of grass not garden and I didn't have a view to the ocean. The good thing about the staying with the breakfast buffet.
The location of the hotel was ok cause you are near a lot of nice restaurants on the ocean but you can walk around there and with no need to stay in the hotel.
I think it was a waste of money to stay there and I don't recommend it to anyone

I have been staying in the Riad Salam in Casablanca for nearly 20 years. I stopped going for many years because the place was just looking tired & had a cold atmosphere. Then about 2 years ago somebody told me they had had a room makeover & I tried it again. I was there last week (September 2012) & really the rooms need money spending on them again.
The owners have made the outside look really great & round the lagoon pool is terrific. But the rooms are looking tired & need a paint over. Beds & linen are great & new & clean & fluffy but the bathroom fittings need replacing. Showers spray water everywhere & there are patches on the ceilings where you can see that water has come through.
Maybe more paint is ordered so its a reasonable price so worth trying.

Room Tip: ask for a view of the pool

I was in Casablanca for business and I chose the Riad Salam because it was convenient for my partner to pick me up in the morning. The hotel is rather orienteed to tourists instead of business people. The best thing about the hotel is its location, in the Corniche, in front of the sea. It is a great location for jogging. The hotel is really old fashioned. The room was nicer and more modern than the common areas, though. Breakfast was okay. They serve real orange juice which is a really "thumbs up" for me. I did not eat in the hotel. There is a Pizza Hut just across the street. They say there is free wifi in the reception but I had a hard time trying to connect. The swimming pool seems quite nice but I did not have the chance to use it.

We stayed for one night in august on transit from Marakesh to Doha and boy what an experience. First the good points
- the hotel is located in the corniche and is good for walking in the evenings with lots of restaurants
- good view of the ocean from the breakfast room or swimming pool terrace/deck
- it is a family hotel with kids playing and using swimming pools to cool off
- the concierge are well mannered and very helpful
- the junior suite are big enough with swimming pool view.

The main issues
- we had booked a junior suite via "agoda at usd 435" and got a shock when we were shown a twin bed standard room with dirty carpets. I called receptionist and first response was that " we are fully booked". I then decided to go personally and convince the receptionist that I have a booking which I originally shown him and then without apologizing he gave me another key for the junior suite
- when we went to the junior suite it was smelling not only cigarettes but dampness of the carpet. We had to pen all windows and full air con for a while to ve able to sit inside our room. If you are allergic, this is not a hotel for you
- there were only two receptionist who to my opinion are not efficient and really are too busy to satisfy customers. It is chaotic and seems they are doing too many things at the same time and they are overwhelmed. Suggest they make some arrangements for a line "que" for service or increase one additional receptionist
- the swimming pool and surroundings is not clean
- the bathroom (jacuzzi) doesn't have a curtain so when you shower there is water all over the place and there's no drainage outlet for the outflow water
- although bed is king size it is not comfortable and the furniture were good originally, but now show clearly permanent stains. Suggest they put new cover to the coaches and chairs
- tried wake up call service via reception but nobody replied and decided to use my mobile instead

My impression is that this is really a 3 star hotel at best and not well maintained. Staff especially the receptionist are overwhelmed with work and are therefore not efficient and prone to making mistakes.

Plse think twice before you book this hotel, personally I would not recommend this for couple or solo or business. For the same amount of money it is much better that you go to Sofitel in the city and then take a taxi max 10 usd each way to the corniche. I hope this review will help travelers thank you
