“Nice Property”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

We stayed at the Sofitel Casablanca for our first night in Morocco, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The rooms were nicely appointed, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the staff was very attentive and responsive. The hotel in general has a somewhat modern look and feel to it. It's not five star, but it's very nice four-star.

Room Tip: The room we had was smaller than the rooms shown in the hotel's "professional pictures"...

This hotel is incredibly tired... They do have a good view and service is good. But I believe they are just holding the building together while they finish a new one being built next door to them. If you are in a tour group, this is great, if you expect a 5 star hotel you will definitely be dissapointed.

Room Tip: Wait until the new hotel is built if you can... :)

Great hotel! Friendly staff, went out of way to assist. Rooms are beautiful and views on sea side great. In house restaurant got great food and breakfast is a feast. It is near the centre of town and huge medina. ATM available around corner. Overall great experience.

I was at Sofitel Casablanca for a night only cause the delay of my airplane flying to Rome and I had a great hospitality experience. The hotel is a great new structure and the lobby is superb for business meetings. promise to stay there again.

A nice stylish hotel located at the center of Casablanca, more on the older area side. Its service was quite good, although ordering a car to the airpot can be expensive. I got an upgrade after a delay of waiting for my room to check-in, which was nice. Its bathroom looks nicer than the actual bedroom, strangely. The lobby bar and restaurants were very good quality and staffs were very nice and helpful. I would recommend it.

We stayed here for one night in March of 2014. Overall, our stay was fine but I wouldn't return.

Our room was not ready when we arrived so we were treated to a welcome drink and snack in the lobby bar for adults and kids, which was nice. Staff was very nice and helpful, and friendly to kids.

The room was nice, quite comfortable and roomy, and well set up. However we could get almost no wi-fi connection in our room (and lobby wasn't exactly fast either) which was a big deal for us as we needed access to email for business reasons and to keep the kids happy. I did call the front desk about it and they tried to help us connect another way but it didn't help. Wi-fi just didn't work in our room, and they didn't move us to another room. The shower in the room was nice and VERY clean - I lost a bracelet while I was at the hotel so I had to check out shower drain and it was remarkably clean, I lifted the chrome grill that was over the drain expecting to see some grime and gunk but there was none! So kudos to cleaning staff. But alas, no bracelet.

However, the indoor pool, which we were looking forward to as a family, was a real disappointment, and quite gross. It was small and the water was murky - if you looked near the underwater lights you could see stuff floating around in there, and the ceiling was dripping water (not just condensation, was coming in from cracks in the ceiling) down into the pool, tiles peeling off. Yuck. We got out quite quickly! Definitely needs a good cleaning and that whole area needs a refurbish. Fitness area was cleaner, we used the treadmill; we did not have time to use the spa.

Food was pretty good - we ate dinner in one of the restaurants which was open early enough for kids and there was good selection for everyone and prices were not bad for an upscale hotel. We had breakfast in our room, which ended up being the highlight - amazing selection of food, pastries, juices, great coffee, at not a bad price, considering, and there was some issue with the waffle iron, so they first brought the kids pancakes instead, called twice with an update on the waffle, and finally brought a huge platter of treats up with the waffle. We were stuffed!

Staff wasn't quite sure what to do about my lost bracelet, didn't seem like there was a central lost and found, and I had to prompt them to take my contact info in case it showed up (it didn't, but that is my fault for losing it, not theirs - I had been wearing it that day so probably lost it in the pool or workout areas).

The car service that the hotel offered was all booked the day we left, but the concierge organized a taxi for us (with seatbelts! Many of the Casablanca cabs don't have seatbelts for car seats or kids, just FYI if you are traveling with a family) and the car was clean, with bottled waters, and driver was just as nice as if he was the hotel driver. It was only about 30 mins drive in the middle of the afternoon, no traffic.

Although the staff was nice, I would not stay here again due to the wi-fi issues and the pool; I've stayed at other Sofitels around the world, as well as at other hotels in Morocco and this wasn't worth the extra price we paid.

Room Tip: We were in a corner suite near the top of the hotel - view was nice but wi-fi connection was terribl...

Spent three nights here recently and was somewhat disappointed. Quite large hotel with plenty of staff all willing to help out with any issues. Executive room was small and bed was uncomfortable. Had a snack in the bar - just OK but drink prices outrageous. Ate in the restaurant one night and the food was good but nothing special - somewhat overpriced. Will search out an alternative on next visit.

Room Tip: Good view of city from upper floors.
