“VERY MOROCCAN”

Very Moroccan and arabic style, so if you are looking for a modern hotel it is not the place for you!
The only problem was that we had to check in a bit later, but other than that it feels like house more than just a hotel and also had great breakfast.
Location is not great!

Room Tip: Choose higher floor

We arrived at the Moroccan House Hotel and were pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful lobby with lots of colorful tile work and cushioned seats. We were assigned to rooms 43 and 45. My room was cute with three twin beds – two of them sporting a fancy canopy and fringe. We discovered a supermarket not far up the street and were able to stock up on water, diet coke and snacks. (The market had yummy French bread and even a 6-pack of chocolate croissants for only $1 – my kind of place.)

The breakfast was included in our room package, but I wasn’t overly impressed with it. The spread was okay. You can request an omelet or egg, and there are a variety of pastries, breads and veggies. There wasn’t much in the way of fresh fruit, and the orange juice tasted like Minute Maid. Little did I know, this would be one of our better breakfasts in Morocco.

The employees at the front desk were friendly and helpful. There were five of us traveling together, and we discovered that it was much more expensive to have the hotel arrange for a taxi. We were crammed into one vehicle and driven to Rick’s Café for 150 DH. On the way back we hailed two petit taxis, and they cost only 50 DH a piece.

We stayed an extra night here before the beginning of our tour with G Adventures. I made the reservation on booking.com and found it cost half of what our tour company wanted to charge us (and cheaper than booking on the hotel's website). All in all, the hotel was fine and well located.

We stayed here for 1 night as a family of 4. As soon as I stepped into the lobby, I could tell this wasn't my taste for places to stay. It was dimly lit with lots of heavy Moroccan looking furniture, but it was completely kitschy and done up for tourists. The scene only got worse when we got to our room. The room itself was small and crowded with 3, 4-poster beds. Each bed was in a dark corner and had immensely frilly cloth hanging all around the 4 posters of the bed. I actually couldn't get myself to get into any of the beds and spent the night on the "couch", though I didn't sleep much. The washroom and bathtub also did not seem clean and you didn't want to touch anything. The hotel tries to make money off of everything. They even charge for maps of the city, which we had been given for free everywhere else we stayed in Morocco (3 places before this place). The breakfast was ok, but things were stale, the juice was awful and the coffee barely edible. The location was decent, but there were lots of other hotels nearby and for what we paid, I'm sure we could have gotten something a lot better! We would never stay here again.

I really didn't know what to expect for a Casablanca hotel as I had been told hotels here don't have any character, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's not perfect, but I loved that about it.
All the rooms were different and I had a small balcony. Walking distance to many restaurants and to the medina. Again I have no problem recommending this hotel and have already sold 3 room nights for a couple wanting something a little different.

The hotel stuns you with a beautiful interior the minute you enter the lobby. As a back-packing, budget traveller, the staff treated me like a queen. Clean room, fantasy decor, spacious bathroom. Breakfast was the best--crepes with fig jam, fresh watermelon and oranges, omelets made to order, warm breads, pastries, fruit salad. I loved the incredible tile work. I wasn't the only guest who spent breakfast taking photos of the walls and ceiling. Short walk to shop in the medina. Nice hammam, private and perfect for feeling pampered.

When I entered the hotel I knew I was in for a taste of Morocco. The lobby and walls are filled with authenic Moroccan Art which adds a special atmosphere to things. The room also was now exeception as traditional art covered the walls. I liked the location in downtown Morocco and expecially that the bus terminal for trips is located just meters away. The breakfast was great with lots of variety and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again and it was certainly a good value for the money.

We spent our last night in Morocco at this hotel. The hotel is not perfect. For the price we paid, overall it is a good value for an one-night stay.

Pros:

1. Free street parking right in front of hotel
2. Breakfast has good selection and is acceptable.
3. Convenient location - walking distance to old medina, Hassan II mosque.
4. Service quality is good with assistance for luggage and parking
5. Free wifi in the hotel
6. Bathroom is well equipped with amenity.
7. Decent space.
8. Room was quiet even with a room facing the street

Cons:

1. 1 euro for city map (which seems to be re-printed from a free map)
2. Excessive air freshener in the room (those with sensitive respiratory system better stay away from this hotel).
3. As other reviews pointed out, the hotel decor is a bit over the top but it was a fun experience for one night.
4. White towels were worn out and appeared to be off white
5. Pillow is thin and long, not the usual standard size.
6. Hallway is dark and only lit up by motion sensors
