Hopefully this will help as I had no idea what I was and was not allowed to do or wear, I have put them into sections
JABS / MEDICINE
Before you go to Agadir you need to have your typhoid and Hep A jabs. Take a bottle of Pepto Bismal incase of an upset tummy due to rich food.
Currency is Dirham which you have to purchase while in Morocco. You can exchange money in a hotel called Palsis de Roses (down the road) and they also have an ATM machine which charges £2-£4. Euros are also accepted in Morocco. The rate is roughly £1 to 5.something dirham for a week we spent £700 between us. Spend all money before leaving Morocco.
Agadir isn't as strict as other Muslim countries. I was very unsure about what was acceptable but I wore dresses, vests, skirts and shorts. You may receive a few odd looks from the locals but as long as you think what your wearing is suitable then you will be fine.
MEN do not have a dress code
HOTEL & FOOD
Timoulay hotel is in a quite area but was a wonderful experience suitable for everyone unless you want a wild night out. There wasn't a lot of entertainment but what was there was entertaining. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help, they could not do enough. It is a very clean and safe environment. The pool area is beautiful, it is salt water & has a lovely layout of single/double leather beds for you to relax on as well as the usual sunbeds and an area for sitting. The rooms have a shower, wardrobe and is very spacious.
If your a fussy eater then you may not enjoy the food as much but there is something for everyone.
Breakfast: Pancakes, waffles, omelette, toast, bread rolls, cereals, salad, ham & cheese. Variety of drinks are available.
Tea: The food includes salad, different fresh fish, a wide variety of meat, soup, bread and there is a 'grill' which cooks the food in front of you. You pay for drinks in the evening.
Is 5 minutes away. Do not take towels as the hotel provides fresh towels for the pool & beach which are located near the pool area. The beach is lovely & clean & the water is clear. The guys on the beach were very welcoming and friendly.
TRIPS AVAILABLE ON THE BEACH
Quads 400 dirham : is a 3.5hour trip you drive out in a car & then get to drive the quads on the sand. Once finished your offered bread & Moroccan tea (mint)
Camels 300 dirham : You drive 10minutes away & ride the camels for a total of 1.5hours you see the kings palace & part of the national park. You have photos taken with the camels. Once you have finished your taken to a small hall where you are offered Moroccan tea. There are shops that sell clothes, drinks, souvenirs.
Jet ski price vary depending on time
You will get harassed on the beach by the lookie lookie men they sell stones, wooden models, clothes, jewels, doughnuts, sweets, henna & tea. You can usually haggle with them knock them down to a price you deem reasonable.
There is a hotel restaurant near the beach which is reasonable.
There is a Souk (market) which is a cab drive away- use a red cab as they are much cheaper. Apparently it is better to go there during the day as it is far quieter than the evening. The Souk is closed on a Monday. The hotel has a little shop that sells clothes, candles, goodies sun cream etc. There is a harbour where you an eat fresh fish & have an ice cream.
One last thing make sure you have plenty of small change (coins or 50's & 100's ) because when paying for things when out & about they will take the rest of your money as a tip without asking. Although the money isn't worth a lot it all the tips add up and you'll easily spend a few hundred.
Hope this has been helpful & if you do go enjoy your stay
