“Overall view of hotel- beach-dress code-money”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Hopefully this will help as I had no idea what I was and was not allowed to do or wear, I have put them into sections

JABS / MEDICINE

Before you go to Agadir you need to have your typhoid and Hep A jabs. Take a bottle of Pepto Bismal incase of an upset tummy due to rich food.

MONEY

Currency is Dirham which you have to purchase while in Morocco. You can exchange money in a hotel called Palsis de Roses (down the road) and they also have an ATM machine which charges £2-£4. Euros are also accepted in Morocco. The rate is roughly £1 to 5.something dirham for a week we spent £700 between us. Spend all money before leaving Morocco.

DRESS CODE

Agadir isn't as strict as other Muslim countries. I was very unsure about what was acceptable but I wore dresses, vests, skirts and shorts. You may receive a few odd looks from the locals but as long as you think what your wearing is suitable then you will be fine.

MEN do not have a dress code

HOTEL & FOOD

Timoulay hotel is in a quite area but was a wonderful experience suitable for everyone unless you want a wild night out. There wasn't a lot of entertainment but what was there was entertaining. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help, they could not do enough. It is a very clean and safe environment. The pool area is beautiful, it is salt water & has a lovely layout of single/double leather beds for you to relax on as well as the usual sunbeds and an area for sitting. The rooms have a shower, wardrobe and is very spacious.

If your a fussy eater then you may not enjoy the food as much but there is something for everyone.

Breakfast: Pancakes, waffles, omelette, toast, bread rolls, cereals, salad, ham & cheese. Variety of drinks are available.

Tea: The food includes salad, different fresh fish, a wide variety of meat, soup, bread and there is a 'grill' which cooks the food in front of you. You pay for drinks in the evening.

BEACH

Is 5 minutes away. Do not take towels as the hotel provides fresh towels for the pool & beach which are located near the pool area. The beach is lovely & clean & the water is clear. The guys on the beach were very welcoming and friendly.

TRIPS AVAILABLE ON THE BEACH

Quads 400 dirham : is a 3.5hour trip you drive out in a car & then get to drive the quads on the sand. Once finished your offered bread & Moroccan tea (mint)

Camels 300 dirham : You drive 10minutes away & ride the camels for a total of 1.5hours you see the kings palace & part of the national park. You have photos taken with the camels. Once you have finished your taken to a small hall where you are offered Moroccan tea. There are shops that sell clothes, drinks, souvenirs.

Jet ski price vary depending on time

You will get harassed on the beach by the lookie lookie men they sell stones, wooden models, clothes, jewels, doughnuts, sweets, henna & tea. You can usually haggle with them knock them down to a price you deem reasonable.

There is a hotel restaurant near the beach which is reasonable.

SHOPPING

There is a Souk (market) which is a cab drive away- use a red cab as they are much cheaper. Apparently it is better to go there during the day as it is far quieter than the evening. The Souk is closed on a Monday. The hotel has a little shop that sells clothes, candles, goodies sun cream etc. There is a harbour where you an eat fresh fish & have an ice cream.

One last thing make sure you have plenty of small change (coins or 50's & 100's ) because when paying for things when out & about they will take the rest of your money as a tip without asking. Although the money isn't worth a lot it all the tips add up and you'll easily spend a few hundred.

Hope this has been helpful & if you do go enjoy your stay

Room Tip: Pool & beach view is beautiful & attracts a lot of sunshine

We stayed here for a week in August with our two small children (4- & 2-years old). It was a lovely, safe, clean and relaxing, hotel. The staff were really friendly and it was a short walk to the beach. The room was spacious and clean and breakfasts were lovely. The kids really enjoyed the pool, I just asked my daughter what she thought of the hotel and she said "Brilliant! I loved the pool. I loved the sea and I loved the chocolate balls (cereal for breakfast)". My wife and I used the spa. I had a hammam and massage and my wife had a massage and session in the sauna. Although not the kind of experience that you'd get, say in Istanbul, it was a nice way to spend an hour.

Room Tip: rear facing to sea and pool on third floor is very nice.

The hotel is really nice with large rooms, great swimming pool area, towels provided for pool and beach use. Beach only 5 mins walk away. Quite a walk to the restaurants/bars but easy to get a taxi for a few pounds just down the road.
As a young(ish) couple without children we did find the pool area very noisy with a lot of children screaming/shouting/crying which did become annoying. Think the hotel is probably great for families but less so for adults only - next year we plan to go on an adults only holiday for a bit of a more relaxing and quiet time!!!

We stayed here as a family with young children and we had a brilliant time. The staff are lovely, so helpful and welcoming. The pool area is lovely - the small children's pool was not filledwalk when we first arrived but after I pointed this out, it was cleaned and filled up within a few hours. Towels are provided around the pool, so don't fill your suitcase with them - we even took ours to the beach. Our room was a good size, double bed for us, a sofa for our oldest and room for the cot for the youngest - which they provided. It was thoroughly cleaned and clean towels provided every day.The food in the restaurant is plentiful and really nice - we always filled ourselves up at breakfast, there was plenty. The drinks are quite expensive for Morocco (£2.00 for a local beer or a soft drink, £5.00 for a cocktail) but that is usually how hotels make their money so I wasn't surprised.

The spa is also lovely and really good value - I had a 30 minute massage at about £15 and a pedicure which lasted nearly an hour for £17.

The only negatives are that it is quite far from town - a good half an hour walk - and the entertainment isn't the best, just a cheesy keyboard duo EVERY night! But this didn't spoil our stay - it was a lovely, relaxing hotel and we all had a lovely time.

Very spacious, well cared for, attentive service only let down by the food and bar service (had to find waiters and turn down cocktails and settle with local wine). However, if you're a looking for a place to chill, get a great tan and discover the city with the help of the staff, then this is the place to choose. Found the hotel to be extremely relaxing, especially during Ramadan. Next time I'll certainly booking over this period as beaches are almost to yourself, service in restaurants and shops is speedy and there is almost no traffic. Night life is brief (as almost everything kicks off after 8pm) but if your main purpose is to relax and recharge batteries, that won't matter much after all.

If you want a quiet hotel, scrupulously clean, great food and all the fun of Agadir within walking distance then this is the hotel for you. My friend and I stayed here from 20th June 2013 for a week and loved this hotel. We walked to the main part of Agadir most mornings as it was cloudy and spent the afternoons relaxing by the pool in the sun (sometimes totally alone)! The staff were attentive and very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing stay in Agadir with a young family or couples - not however for the young partygoer!!

We stayed in Hotel Timoulay for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were really friendly and helpful both at reception and the restaurant. The rooms were a lot larger than were used to and spotlessly clean. We went half board any enjoyed the breakfast and dinner, there was a good choice of tasty food although mostly Western dishes. We even ate in the hotel for lunch although a little bit pricey it was nice. The pool was lovely and the beds at one end were great for chilling out.

The location is good and its less than 10 minutes to the beach. Agadir doesn't really offer a lot to do and when we were there the beach was too windy for us to sit on (although a lot of locals did). The town itself (25minute walk) is slightly soulless. Agadir is great for a few days before or after a bigger trip or to use as a base to go on day trips (which the hotel also offers). Taroudant is worth a visit, if you're staying there I'd recommend Randigaba B&B.

We'd highly recommend Timoulay, it's clean, with friendly staff and nice pool area and it offers great value for money.

Room Tip: Perhaps as for one on the top floor looking out to sea however I think these cost more.
