Arrived at riu tikida dunas on 10 june until 20th. First off the weather was bad for 6 out of the 10 days it was really cold. The hotel itself was ok, not realy a 4 start more of a 3. All staff were great, bars got really busy about 10 after the show finished but staff were fast and you didnt wait long for drinks. As usual in AI i found the drinks were just not strong, im not a rum drinker but had about 8 strawberry dahqauris( pardon spelling) and im sure i could have still passed a breatherliser test.
Restaurant was busy most nights and expect to wait in line , food was good most nights though i think the beef one night was a bit to rare, On two nights we did struggle to find something we liked but saying that there is a lot of choice. At lunchtimes the restaurant by the poolbar opened at 12,30 but the people that were there was mad we went about 2pm and it was quiet, The animation team were good and tried to get you involved but didnt force you into anything.
Rooms were large and lots had sea view. we were in 4121 , matteress a bid hard but manager did say they were all new and if you wanted it changed they would. Slept ok no noise until new people moved in upstairs and brought their pet elephant with them but on whole it was ok . Long promenade outside hotel nice walk , mcdonalds about 15 min walk also a few shops.
would i go back to this hotel, hmmm Think i say no, i stayed it lots of Rius but this one didnt do it for me, but there ya go i wouldnt say dont go there.

Just back from an excellent holiday in morocco , we stayed at the this hotel which I would recommend, my husband and I look for holidays that will give us relaxation time away from the our busy life's, this did not disappoint. Our firsts time going all inclusive and I believe that we would not go any other way now it is great not to take money out with you, the hotel caters for everyone's needs and the main language is French and Arabic , we both speak a little French and with the help of Maloud in the snack tanaris bar we picked up a few lessons in Arabic , the staff were really motivated and friendly, which says a lot for the management team who have to ensure this happened on a daily basis .
We had requested a sea view room and was not disappointed to be given a room in the 5000 range this looks directly on to the prom and the sea. Our building was very quiet which helped as we were both there to relax , the room it's self was clean and the beds were a little hard but this was resolved with toppers. Plenty of wardrobe space and a free safe in the room, fridge was filled daily with bottles of water, and the loo and bathroom where separate .the house keeping team were fantastic and approachable nothing was ever too much , although I am a bit of a tidy freak they alway redone everything for us .
The food was amazing and the set out in the main dinning hall was a little cramped at times if you asked for a quiet place to sit they found you one , the food was cooked fresh in front of you and there was something for everyone , you could also choose to go to the Italian or Moroccan only restaurant which we did on a few occasions although we booked the Moroccan one we were told that we would be seated with a group of English people we decided not to eat there as we felt we were being forced to sit with people that we did not know and if anything would have rather sat with French or German for the culture but because we spoke English this would not happen, the staff in the restaurant are very hard working and all the look for in return are good manners from the clientele however this was a miss from some people which was rather a shame however this did not stop the staff from ever smiling .
The bar staff also very hardworking , the beer and wine were fantastic I'm not a spirit drinker but I was told it was good too , I did try a few cocktails which were nice although as I said not sure how spirits should taste but they were nice , they also had .little bar snacks which were good and immaculately dressed.
The management were always visible and approachable to help with any queries .
The animation team although we did not do anything with them were always around and friendly , they more stuck to the younger crowds and left the older ones in peace, they were always on the go from morning till night never stopping always full of energy.
The weather slightly disappointed us out of the 2 weeks 6 days was pretty overcast although it did not stop us from being at the pool till it cleared in the late after noon it was slightly uncomfortable at times . But as I said it did not stop us for sun bathing and you do need protection whilst over cast as it can still burn you. Note to self really for first day lol.

The Thompson reps were great I only dealt with the lovely Karen who could not have been anymore better if she tried , and excellent credit to Thompson, both my husband and I went on separate excursions which we were both happy with no visits to any carpet factories which was a bonus, I would highly recommend the hotel spa treatment which was really nice .

I had read many reviews on trip advisor before I went and some a little disappointing I must say , the hotel in all is fantastic yes a little cosmetic work needs done but hey with thousands of people going through every week of course there will be wear and tear, however we witnessed destruction of some of the furniture by unruly un supervised children which was a little annoying . The facility guys worked hard and never once saw any staff as a matter of fact shirking there duties . The pool bed were constantly being restrung and yes some of the older parasols need replaced but apart from that .it was good .

Some of the prom sellers don't take no for an answer but this is a minority if your firm with them they eventually leave you alone. Most ask once then move on if you say no. We hired cycles to go along to the harbour which was better than walking as no one bothers you. The shops are ok filled with souvenirs and if smell bothers you avoid leather shops the are not pleasant smell wise. Mac Donald's and Pizza Hut are there however you can get that here so it did not appeal to us lots of variety in the cafes even for the fussiest of people.

Ok back to the hotel the hotel has a few cats that have had kittens which are cute and well behaved , although they have signs up asking clients not to feed them as the hotel does this them self with proper cat food , this does not stop people from doing it. The cats are there for a reason and people should respect that.

All in all we had a fantastic experience of Morocco, I would go back one day. The rui group should be proud of themselves , we will be using there hotels in the future only disappointing thing I can think of is the is no late check out available , which meant we did not sleep for 24 hrs as we had a lot of travelling when we got home to the up as you can not fly from glasgow so trains plains and ferries for us but we'll worth it. Just don't know what to make for tea now that I have been so spoiled for choice . Xxxx

Me and my girlfriend (both 19 years old) stayed at this hotel from the 20th of May to the 6th of June. We booked through Thomson which with flights, transfers, all inc, along with a few small upgrades (e.g Sea View room) came to around £560pp. This turned out to be excellent value for money.

From the moment we arrived we was greeted with fruit cocktails as well as people taking our luggage to our room. Even though there was two coach loads of people checking in at one time, the check in process was very quick. The hotel made extra effort to serve a buffet dinner as late at 12 that night to accommodate for our late check in.

The rooms are basic but kept faultlessly clean with fresh towels, sheets and bottles of water every day.
The staff were absolutely fantastic. It felt as if any problem we had or anything we needed was dealt with straight away with a quick call to reception.
The food was varied and to a very high standard. The chefs worked constantly to keep food on the hotplate fresh and with a high quantity to accommodate the constant flow of people.
The pools and grounds are absolutely huge. The beach is also fantastic and the private sunbeds where very convenient.

It was my girlfriends birthday while we was out there and without us telling any of the staff she was given a present and card from the hotel which was a lovely gesture. We was greeted at the restaurant that night with a bottle of champagne as well as a huge cake at the end of the meal. The hotel made a real effort so I didn't have to and it was very much appreciated!

Morocco turned out to be a great destination. The people where generally very polite and there's plenty to see and do.
We booked the 1 day trip to Marrakech which was brilliant. An early start as pick up was at 7am but if you ask at reception for an early breakfast they deliver it to your room.
We was a slightly nervous about our trip as we've heard stories of how mad it can be but in all honesty it was not a bad as we expected. It is definitely recommended you go with a guide as you will get lost if not! The people generally leave you alone when you are with a guide as well, even if you are on your own they don't trouble you too much if you politely say 'no thank you'
We also booked the Camel trekking and the Fantasia dinner show and I highly recommend both.

Overall I find it hard to fault this hotel or Morocco itself. We will definitely be looking for the Riu on all our holidays in the future.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Sea View room for a small charge where you can watch the sunset over the sea.

Arrived at the Tikida Dunas early morning to be greeted with smiling friendly staff, given a cocktail and our wrist bands. Extremely swift check in considering a whole bus load of us descended on them at once lol. Although we arrived before official check in time our room was ready for us.
Rooms are large and were kept clean and tidy. They have separate toilet/bathroom, air conditioning, a free safe, fridge (handy for the 2 large bottles of water left daily), flat screen TV, hair dryer and washing line in the bathroom. 2 wardrobes with lots shelve space but not many coat hangers. Beds are hard as all the mattresses have just been replaced but you can request mattress toppers from reception and these made a difference. Maid was great and was always putting our blankets, towels etc into fan shapes, even left rose petals one day. As requested we had a top floor room. We over looked pond/garden area. Had the road to the back of us but weren’t disturbed by road noise from this, or from any other guests.
The hotel is lovely and is continually being cleaned and the beautiful gardens were always being tended too. The pool guys kept the pool area tidy and would find beds/umbrellas for you if required. Pool towels are also provided. The pools are gorgeous but a bit chilly, although that didn’t stop us from using them. There is an indoor pool and gym but didn’t use these. Gym looked well equipped though. Also a Beauty Salon, again didn’t use this but prices seemed very reasonable.
Animation Team are a great bunch. Lots going on throughout the day to join in with like darts, aqua aerobics, French bowls, volleyball etc but they will leave you in peace if you want to just relax. Kids are also well catered for with their own kids club and playground. Mini Disco in The Founty Showbar at 8pm followed by a nightly show at 9pm.
Food and drink available all day. Breakfast and dinner in the main restaurants, late breakfast, lunch and snacks from pool restaurant. Can also book the Italian and Moroccan restaurants although we didn’t do this as enjoyed main one. Good choice of food, even the fussiest of person won’t go hungry here. Beer and Wine are good, as were the Cocktails.
Hotel sits across the promenade from the beach. Hotel has own small private section with sunbeds. The sea was lovely clear and warm (lot warmer than the pools!) You can walk right round the promenade to the harbour area, hotels cafes etc all along. Takes about 20 mins to reach what I called the central area with a MacDonald’s, Pizza Hut, English Bar and about 45 mins to walk right round to the Harbour area.
The weather was lovely and hot when we were there. 2 days bit over cast till lunch time but rest of the time clear blue sunny skies. Usually a breeze but personally I liked this. Just be careful as you dont feel yourself burning lol.
All the staff at this hotel from cleaners to management were extremely friendly and helpful and they go out of their way to make sure your stay is “excellent” Although we tipped them daily, none of them ever looked for a tip. We took a peak into The Tikida Beach and Tikida Palace. These were lovely too, a bit more “posh” than the Dunas but personally we felt more at home at the Dunas and the staff appeared to be a lot friendlier here. Hope to return again one day.

Stayed here last July for our honeymoon.

The bedroom style was basic but as in morocco We did not expect the room to be too flashy.
It was kept clean.

When we arrived my husband was a little disapointed we did not have a pool view however this turned out to be a good thing. We were located at the front of the property and had a view over the large pond. It was very quiet and nice to sit on the balcony in the morning.

The buffet restaurant can be very busy so opt for an early breakfast and early evening meal where possible. There seems to bee a fly problem if you sit near the windows so try to sit toward the reception area. The food was good with a good variety ...especially the paella and prawns at lunch!

We ate in the Moroccan restaurant which you must reserve...If you can find the head waiter. He told us just to turn up one evening as there was only the two of us...but then got turned away as it was not wrote down in the book....even though it was empty! Its the same food as the buffet however is has a lovely atmosphere!

The pool area is lovely although a little noisy if you want a little peace sit to the far end!

We visited agadir souk....if you like to haggle then this is the place for you. The taxi is a little scary as he got lost and you here horror stories of them taking you somewhere so you can buy from their friends shop!

We really enjoyed the stay and would go back Its worth well the money

The only thing it lacked was the fact we were on our honeymoon but not congratulated. A freied we met got a bottle of champagne for their birthday?

Room Tip: room 2212 nice

After a good flight and transfer we arrived at the Tikida Dunas and were promptly checked in by welcoming staff. We arrived after the diner service finished but were offered food which was basic but hot.

Reception
Large and clean reception area which leads into a lobby that contained the Moroccan restaurant and main dining room. There is also a bar area and a very large seating area. A down side is they allow smoking indoors so it can get a bit smoky.

Rooms
The rooms are ok and are cleaned daily, lovely friendly maid, with clean towels. There is air conditioning but it's very dated so isn't very efficient.

Pools
There are 3 pools, 1 indoor, 1 salted and 1 freshwater. The pool area is nice but the sun beds are a bit old and aren't the most comfortable but plenty to choose from. They say you can't put towels on to reserve bed but this happened daily but isn't really a Problem.

Bars
There is a pool bar with self service soft drinks and a service bar for coffees and alcoholic drinks. Didn't have a problem here but the indoor bar was a nightmare at night. This hotel is orientated to the French and they seem to get priority when being served at the bar although bar staff were always polite. The drinks such as beer and spirits were ok but the cocktails were awful. They were just spirits mixed with cordials. Not worth bothering with.

Entertainment
The entertainment team work tirelessly both day and night to try to get people involved in activities. They were always polite and a very nice bunch of people, unfortunately the shows in the evenings were not the greatest and only lasted about an hour.

Restaurants
The main dining area was buffet at breakfast dinner and tea. There was an egg station which served fried eggs and omelette with a few extras. If you want a full English don't bother with breakfast as it mainly caters for the French with a lot of sweet foods such as pastries, pancakes and doughnuts. Dinner is served in the pool restaurant. This is very busy as it's the only place to eat at lunch time. Food included pizza, burgers and hot food such as fish, rice and meat dishes. There was also something cooking on the BBQ but just check before you eat them as on several occasions the chicken were raw in the middle. Food is available all day til around 5pm.

In the evening you have 3 choices where to eat,

Moroccan:- this was ok but you can get what they serve in the main restaurant but it's nice to be out of the main dining room and have a bit of quite although this is also self service.

Italian:- this is in the pool restaurant and is very hit and miss. The antipasti was great but the mains were on the same par as the main restaurant and not very Italian but is also a bit quieter than the main restaurant.

Main restaurant:- the food was average but always something to eat. There wasn't enough staff and you could find yourselves waiting for wine/water/cutlery and on many occasions got them for ourselves.

Location
The hotel is at end of a run of hotels and it takes about 30 minutes to walk to any bars and the Marina. Everything looks a bit run down and grotty and not the nicest place to sit and watch the world go by.

Beach
Thomson brochures promises an ' hour glass sand' beach, what you actually get is a small piece of very stoney beach which was not the nicest place to be, food and drink is not allowed to be taken from the hotel onto the beach.

I have stayed in Riu hotel before in Mexico and the Dom Republic and was quite disappointed with this hotel. Thomson rate this hotel as a 4T+ but would say that this is more a 3 and and is very average. Whilst we were there, many of the guests, including ourselves came down with a stomach bug which caused chronic diarrhoea. For us this started after 2 days of arrival and lasted well after we had returned home. One couple we met notified the rep that they were ill with this stomach bug and was told it was overindulgence and not acclimatising to the weather. This was a bit of a joke as they'd had it for 10 days. The rep wasn't really interested in any problems and if a doctor was required, guests were advised to go 'up the road' to the doctors.

I have always rated Riu hotels very highly but feel that this hotel let's the company down. Even without the dreaded stomach bug, which I later found out is notorious to Morocco, this hotel is not up to Riu standard. It was the people we met there that made the holiday bearable rather than the hotel. We will not be returning to morocco and would advise anyone thinking about it to maybe pay the extra money and stay at the Riu palace instead.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and stay at the palace or beach
