“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

We went to this hotel on the 25 June - 3 July 2012. Our flight was at 7pm and arrived at Agadir Airport at night time. Our coach was there to pick us up on time. We arrived at the Hotel after midnight at the hotel laid on hot food for all our coach party.

The hotel was fantastic and the food was out of this world. Most of the food was cooked in front of us and there was a tremendous variety of food to choose from. The waiting on staff were to friendly and could not do enough for us even at breakfast, dinner and evening time.

The animation team were so friendly. They came around our sunbeds every day and asked if we were having a nice time. Even the managers spoke to everyone.

The weather is very hot. Some days it appeared to be cloudy then the sun broke out. Its about a 2 min walk to the beach and well worth the effort to go and spash in the sea to cool down.

The rooms are very big and very clean. This hotel is one of the best we have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: We had sea view rooms and were excellent

Went here for a week as a family of 6 females aged 25-75. The entire holiday was amazing filled with laughs.
The team at the hotel from the staff to management couldnt do enough to help. We celebrated two birthdays out there and they helped make it all the more memorable and special.
Rooms were great and spacious. Food was excellent for veggie/fish eaters and was provided all day long. Drinks were always available and plentiful. Coffee inside by reception was the best.
Pools and beach were beautiful, but as always, struggled to even find one sunbed past 7am, let alone 6 together. But staff were there to help.
Beach towels were horrendous. Couldnt get one for the first 3 days, and then couldnt get clean ones to replace them after that. Was told they were 'all out' every day at any time.
Day trips were booked through Sahara Tours, and were very good. Tour guides were all excellent. Must do the day trip to Marrakech, and take shopping money! Jet ski-ing in the front of the hotel on the beach was the best experience. Camel riding was so much fun.

Overall, great hotel, great staff, great place.

Room Tip: Must book sea view. Definately worth it. Block 311.

My wife and I stayed at the Riu Tikids Dunas for 2 weeks from 31st May to 15th June. It is a large hotel spread over quite a big area but luckily we were given a ground floor apartment not far from the main lobby/reception. As we requested somewhere close whilst booking our trip.
The rooms were a nice size and kept clean. The food is ok and you wont go hungry but nothing special.
The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 are the pools, they are massive so they never get crowded & seem deserted most of the time.
Where the hotel backs onto the promonade there is a constant breeze off the sea, Which is much appreciated when it gets hot. At nightime the temperature does drop quite alot, my wife was thankful for her cardigan some nights.
Its a good location if you would like to just relax and chillout. If you'll after anything else it is lacking, as the hotels animation team put on a nightly hour long show which is dreadful. If you wander of the hotel there is absolutly nothing todo apart from walk along the prominade, try to dodge the sellers that patrol up & down the promonade all day & night trying to make a sale to some gullable tourist or may be hire a jet-ski for 20 mins.

Would I go back?

Maybe in a few years time.

enjoyed morocco but not the hotel and complex. there was about 15 to 20 cats and kittens all over the place but mainly around the dining areas and people feeding them and ignoring a notice on the wall telling you not to feed them nobody on the staff told them not feed them.there was workmen on the resort working on a bar and restaurant that should have been open and the work finished before the summer season they was jigger picking the flooring up and the noise was overpowering.swimming pools in need of a major face lift no mini bar or optic,s in the rooms on the complex all other riu hotels we stayed in had the mini bar in the rooms. entertanment was poor and below par there was two acts on alternate nights in the main bar area when you had heard them for fourteen nights you got a wee bit fed up the founty bar shows no better either we did not get a lot of help of the rep for the thomsons group he was less then helpfull and thats not saying a lot enougth said about that for now ? so after all that said we will certainly not be going back to this hotel again not even if they payed for us to go back just a footnote for anyone who is still planing on visiting this hotel dont stay in rooms 3100.s onwards to noisy day and night that is if you want a seista good luck

Room Tip: chose a top floor room less chance of to much noise

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel from the 25th June to the 2nd of July and had a lovely time. This was booked as an early suprise holiday for my 21st birthday and although there were a couple of minor issues I would Definately reccomend this hotel to couples of all ages and families with young children. I've read a few reviews on here criticising the bedrooms as needing updating/modernising but I would ignore those as the rooms are spacious, and have everything you need. If I had a few things I would say the beds were a bit hard and the shower heads are too low but other than that you can't moan too much! we also had a nice sea view from our room. The breakfast and lunch was okay a but repetative but it was fine as were the drinks. We opted to eat our every night instead of doing any excursions and we found a few brilliant restaurants where we had some of the nicest food I can remember. La Scala, golden gate and le camel I would Definately reccomend! All are a short walk away but to avoid the chaos in the dining area Its nice to get out of the hotel! I would avoid the English pub like the plague as we had two meals that ended up getting sent back before we hadtook a bite that's how bad they were! One calzone cremated and an uncooked steak pie to cut it short! We went next door and had a lovely mixed grill and beef tagine. A couple of other things, if clubs are your thing the papogayo nightclub is a great night out and by far one of the nicest clubs I've ever set foot in and try the private beach for the day as we much preferred it to the pool and we dont like sand/sea!! Overall a lovely week away to relax. Would I return? Probably not but we did really enjoy Morrocco!

Had a great time, would definitely return. Hotel tired but clean and the staff very, very friendly. Couldn't fault the food great selection. Bar staff very efficient, reception staff very accommodating. We usually don't attend the welcome meeting but would highly recommend, great trips on offer and essential and beneficial advise given. Would recommend the day trip to Marrakesh, atlas mountains trip and the 2hr massage, all well worth the money and value for money. Taxis to the marina not far from the resort was roughly £1.50, would recommend a visit, eating out very reasonable priced. Carn't wait to visit again. Also the locals very friendly and don't pester, added bonus.

Room Tip: Would recommend the sea view block 5000, sunsets beautiful.

I recently visited this hotel for 10 nights from the 18-28 June with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time. We were a little bit wary before going after a couple of bad reviews and seemed to be a lot of older people staying at the hotel and not many younger couples. However when we got there we weren't treated any differently and were surprised by the amount of young couples who were actually there. On arrival we were greeted with cocktails and champaign and taken to the restaurant that was kept open for late arrivals.
The weather was great for most of the holiday, getting up to 40 degrees some days, however it is occasionally a little cloudy on the mornings, but wasn't such a bad thing as a perfect time to take the option to use the indoor pool.
The food overall was very good in my opinion and I am a fussy eater. There was always lots of choice everyday along with the usual repetition of chips, pizza, pasta.... as well as soup, but the soup was always delicious, and varied every meal time. Other reviews say the food is repetitive and that is the case with the most common food that i stated before, but everyday there was always different and new varieties of food. As a younger couple we though the late breakfast from 10:30 - 11:30 was great, as we could have a lie instead of getting up a lot earlier like you do with a lot of other hotels.
The animation team as people and entertainers are second to none. They are overall great with everyone, from kids to the elderly. They encourage you to join in their day time entertainment, such as: volleyball, water polo etc, but are more than understanding if you say you want to relax. Abdul who runs the pool tables was great and a worthy opponent of anyone who thinks they are good at pool, my boyfriend played him countless times. However, a little sour note, we think the night time entertainment was lacking a little. Only being a one hour show per night from 9:30 - 10:30 we found this to be a little disappointing. Some particular shows were extremely entertaining, but equally others were very disappointing. There is no doubt how much effort goes into the shows, but an hour of choreographed dance routines was not to our taste. Elias, the hotel rep was great, anything you needed day/night he was available including giving you his personal mobile number.
The hotel is a good distance from the city centre, however any of the 'petit taxi's' (orange) would take you anywhere within Agadir for 20 Dirhams (£1.30) which was amazing. we used this to travel to the English pub to watch the England Euro matches and have English pub grub, which is highly recommended. The Moroccans outside the hotel do try and sell you things, but are not persistent, if you say no then they will walk away.
Other good points - the cleaners were fab, if a do not disturb sign was put on the door they left your room alone and came back later in the day, they did a great job, with new towels, new bedding and cleaned up any rubbish. You can get a sun lounger any time of the day (even as late as 2 in the afternoon)
I would highly recommend this Hotel and we are definitely going to return in a couple year time.

Room Tip: Block 3 and 5 are best for sea and pool views
