“Great Place to have a holiday”
Reviewed October 18, 2007

Would like to sya that this holiday was the best I have had. Not a single problem at all. i was on Crutches for a week and the staff could not help me enough. More than enough sun loungers around the pool so always can get a bed. The most amazing pools I have ever seen. I see where the other person is coming with the music around the pool but you just get on with it.
the Entertainment in the evening is not great but hey what do you really expect. it is amazing where a 50 Dhirams go with bar staff they will bring you drinks all night long. the food is amazing so much choice and they let you stay there for as long as you want. there are a couple of sitting. 7.00pm and 8.30pm

The only annoying thing I could say was the size of the plastic cups around the pool and restaurants. Very small and you seem to always be getting another one.

This hotel is probably the best looking hotel i have seen and will be coming back next year but next time for two weeks.

Just returned from a fantastic two week holiday in morocco. The hotel and resort could not be faulted and the staff are very polite and friendly. The food was fantastic. Lots of choice and you are bound to put on a few pounds as you will eat plenty. We thought it was a lot better than rui tikida beach. The beach is lovely for walking along and if the odd person asks you if you want to buy something when you say no they go, they are not persistent or intimidating. we felt as safe as anywhere in europe out and about in agadir. The marina has a few good shops like Zara and over the next year i am sure many more will have opened. The weather was hot about 30 degrees c everyday so you are bound to get a tan. Had a day trip to marrakesh which was great and well worth the money.

Would highly recommend this hotel and holiday destination and would definately return.

Good holiday. Very nice hotel. Very posh. The staff were very helpful and efficient.

The rooms were excellent and nicely furnished. And the standard of cleanliness was exceptional.

It was better to go after the summer season. There are less people about and it is therefore easier to get a sun lounger and so on!

Beware of beach hawkers. More than a little irritating! And be careful if you are blonde especially…a bit of sexual harassment can spoil your holiday. Just a warning to be careful, take it from me!

The food was very good. Wasn’t bored of it at all. Just be aware that if it says “skewered beef” or “mixed grill” it does quite often consist of offal. Not good if you don’t like that. Excellent not to be disturbed by staff at mealtimes as I have experienced in other hotels. Very efficient at taking plates away when you are finished. Also a very good idea to be assigned a table for the duration of your holiday at the evening meal. Very useful and much easier than fighting for a table.

Pool was excellent, as was the beach. The hawkers can only come up as far as the rocks so you can escape them if you want to, and there is always a security type man about to check only Riu patrons used that part of the beach. I don’t know how useful he was in chasing off people causing hassle! The pool music can get a little repetitive and irritating, but if you are inside you can blank it out by shutting the patio doors in your room. If you are around the pool, you just have to put up with it I’m afraid! If you like “Rhinestone Cowboy” and similar, then I imagine you will be OK!!

Great holiday! My boyfriend is now converted to all inclusive!!

  • Liked — Great hotel and great food!
  • Disliked — Pool music! Beach Hawkers.

This hotel is one of the best on the beach, three restaurants to pick from, very good food. Accommodation excellent, would stay in one of the '5000' block next time on the beach. The pool layout is great, not too crowded for a large hotel.
The staff are so friendly and polite. We will go back to this place.

Me and my husband travelled to Agadir, and stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks in September, 2007. The hotel was lovely - the rooms were very clean and spacious with plenty of wardrobe space (for a change!!). We had clean towels every day and I lost count at how many times our bedding was changed - very, very clean. We also had a separate toilet - which seemed strange at first but we soon realised that this was a bonus. On first entering the hotel, it seemed a little dowdy, but after a while you get used to this and we decided it was just their way of decorating in muted shades, plenty of browns, beiges etc. The furniture throughout the whole hotel was very good. The restaraunt served a great variety of dishes and we never had any problems selecting food to eat and it was a very good standard. The staff, from the cleaners up to the management were very much on show and were very friendly. But the best part of the hotel by far was the swimming pools!!!! They were outstanding!!! 3 large pools all surrounded by plenty of laying out space, lots of green plants and palm trees and more sun beds than I have ever seen!!! We never had any problem getting a sunbed at whatever time we went around the pool. Also worth a mention was the spa facilities - I bucked up courage and went for a full body massage!!! What an experience!!! It was great and very reasonably price. The only little gripe, if any, is the entertainment! Most nights it is done by the hotels entertainment team so it is really amateurish but a couple of nights they had authentic folklore shows on and these were very good. Agadir as a whole we found to be very much a building site and it seemed very spread out and one shop seemed to sell the same things as the next one. Quite a few people before we went, and whilst we were there, raved about Agadir and have visited numerous times but I'm afraid it wont be somewhere we will rush back to, although this has nothing to do with the hotel as this was superb. Overall, we had a lovely holiday - good weather, people really friendly and a very good hotel.

  • Liked — The cleanliness of everywhere and the terrific pool area.
  • Disliked — A little bit far from the town.

First things first, this hotel, even though only a four star is simply the best along the beach in Agadir. Of course the Sofitel is far superior in looks and stars but it lacks character, of which the Tikida Dunas has lots!
Top notch service from all the staff at the Dunas, they can't do enough for you. Especially the bar staff who make your stay the most enjoyable! (tips go a long way in the Dunas, a 100dirham note which is roughly 6 ukp will get you a loyal service throughout your stay).
The three pools are fantastic, lots of good room for sunbathing contrary to other reviews although we encountered a duff parasol now and again which would be immediately rectified if you notified the manager.
Mealtimes are fine, yes its all buffet food and can get a little samey but be patient, the only downside to it is those europeans who don't like to queue will push in front of you when its busy, just give them a dirty look and take your place back ;)
Lunch is the busyiest time for food, get there at 12:30 on the dot and you will get some great nosh.
Agadir itself isn't the most eye catching place, its still being rebuilt from the 1960 earthquake, but if you venture further afield, to the mountains, Essouria or to Marakech then you will be in for a treat. Having said that the beach in Agadir is fantastic, very very clean, hardly any beach sellers (but this depends on what time of day you venture out). As in all the other reviews, Moroccans can be a little forward when selling, but a stern NO and they will leave you alone.
OK, some tips for you:
If you want some little holiday gifts to bring home, go to a lovely little fixed price shop across the road and about 5 munites walk to the left of the Dunas, its the first shop you come across in a row of shops.
If you want a real moroccan rug, go to Tafroute in the mountains. 500-600 ukp rugs you can get for roughtly 100 ukp (1400dirhams) and they are the dogs danglies. Still, don't be scared to haggle!!

Beautiful hotel, stunning location and views of the beach.
Very french orientated.
We and many other guests had severe diarrhoea, obviously due to something we ate, reception just shrugged this off as ordinary!! To be honest this really ruined our holiday as we spent at least 2 days of 7 in bed or on the toilet.

Agadir has more or less nothing to offer, most of the streets are filthy with rubbish everywhere, it is up and coming as there is a huge amount of development going on at the moment so give it 10 years and it will be the next spain.

Be very aware of this hotel if you are prone to upset stomachs, I am not but I had to go to the toilet about 20 times in one day. Not nice as you can imagine.
Standards look very good front of house, but I would really have liked to have a look in their kitchens, shame really as I wont go back there.

  • Liked — Very spacious bedrooms
  • Disliked — Nothing really, very nice big bedroom
