“A fantastic hotel and holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

A clean, modern hotel with lovely gardens and good food. There was pleanty of food for all tastes I would esp recommend the pannis. We upgraded to a limited sea view which should have been called an outstaning sea view. Our room was large, clean and had great views of the sea and pool.As a couple in our mid twenties we generally enjoyed the evenings we were , slightly dissapointed as the night club was closed but this was for religious reasons so it was understandable. We found that there was lots to see and do in and around the hotel. We booked 3 Trips with Thomson which were gd but of course a lil pricy. We are now going to look for the Rui chain on our next holiday, because it was a great place to stay :)

Room Tip: 135 away from noise with a great views.

Overall a decent break in a nice place with some good food and friendly staff around the pool who were willing to make your holiday a memorable one (especially if you part with a few dirhams for tips). Not much to do in the evening and with some minor changes the hotel could be really spectacular and a worthy 4 star.
Pros
- Plenty of choice for food in the main restaurant buffet at all times
- Great animation team around the pool area and in the bar early evening
- Nice reception and lobby area with free wifi
- Big and comfortable rooms - request a seaview if you can
- Excellent holiday rep who was friendly and informative
- Nice pool with swim up bar area
- Sun loungers provided with umbrellas on the private beach
- Use of a complimentary room for late flights and continued use of all the facilities following checkout
- Good mini-club for children
Cons
- Reception staff a little clueless at times
- Moroccan restaurant was really using left overs from the main buffet restaurant and not private and intimate dining
- Evening entertainment was shocking to say the least - outdated and boring
- Alcoholic drinks were not brand ones, but local brands, no draught beers
- Dress code for men in restaurant not enforced - shorts, hats etc
- Spa area was a joke - awful massage and rushed treatments with no customer care or politeness, staff did not speak English or attempt to help with any issues. Complete waste of time and money!!!
- Poor toiletries in the room - sachets provided
- Food was a little bland at times considering the amount of spices for sale in this country!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor with a sea view

Just returned from a week here, 4 adults and 3 kids and have to say we can't fault it. All inclusive through Thompson. The hotel was very clean, food very very tasty and varied, staff very competent and friendly. One pool but plenty of sunbeds, plus the option of their private section of beach.
I would recommend it and we will return.

Room Tip: We had read about rooms over the nightclub. Although it was shut due to Ramadan while we were there...

Well, we have just returned from a very lazy and relaxing week at the Riu Tikida Beach Hotel and we would certainly recommend it to anyone. Throughout the hotel and our room were extremely clean and the grounds were well kept. We had a lovely size double room with a good size balcony. It was nice that the room had a separate toilet room to the bathroom. It would appear that our towels were changed on a daily basis even though we hadn't requested this.

The pool area was nice, though I would say that the sun loungers were quite packed in. And as everyone else has commented, yes loungers were reserved bright and early every day, though we didn't seem to find a problem with finding any around breakfast time. Poolside towels are provided too. The beach is lovely and the hotel has an area specifically for hotel guests and we never had a problem getting loungers there either. Gorgeous golden fine sand too and lovely for a good long walk along the beach.

The hotel staff were generally friendly and helpful, though the reception staff let the side down a little bit.

Given that it was All-Inclusive, we were a little dubious about what the food may be like, however generally couldn't fault this. There was plenty of choice and always appeared fresh. I would suspect that any longer than a week, then you may get a little bored with the food. At both lunch and dinner you were offered wine and beer and we would recommend the rose wine, pleasantly surprised! We did actually eat out one night at the resturant La Villa Blanche, which is at hotel Riad Villa Blanche. This was just fantastic and would highly recommend this, the food was amazing, service fantastic and venue super! We couldn't recommend this restaurant enough!!!

The hotel has a Spa that is available 7 days a week and we utilised this twice by having massages and couldn't fault this either. It does get booked up, so just make sure you book in advance. Prices were reasonable too, specially as back home in the UK you would probably pay double on some occasions.

Overall, lovely relaxing time and would recommend a stay at the hotel.

I am writing this review because before going to the hotel I read previous reviews and I was concerned by what people were writing. So I have decided to leave my view and also information I think people will find useful about the hotel and surroundings.

Airport- on arrival at the airport there will be porters outside willing to take your bags to the coach for you in return they will expect a tip so have some change on you to give them if you don't want them to take it hang on to your bag and a polite no thank you will be sufficient.

On arrival at the hotel we were welcomed by a non-alcoholic cocktail and the restaurant had been left open with a small selection of food for you of you are hungry, it's worth taking a look as you can get your bearings for breakfast in the morning, bags are taken up to the room when you are ready just let reception know this will also require a tip if you don't want to tip then no thank you and take them yourself.

Room- we were very lucky to have room 265 which overlooked the pool and the sea, the rooms are clean and spacious and have air-con they also have a hair dryer which is quite powerful as I have found in previous hotels that they are slow and take a long time to dry my hair but these were great and did the job! You have a separate toilet to the shower/bath room which I thought was good. There is a channel on the tv which has English movies on all day which is good when you want to chill before dinner and whilst getting ready in the morning. There is also a safe which is free to use just out your own 4 digit code in. Bottles of water are provided in the room for free and there is also a fridge.

Restaurants- there is one restaurant for breakfast which offers inside and outside seating. At breakfast you normally get your own drink and a wide range of food is available. Lunch there is the Italian restaurant and the other restaurant that was open at breakfast at these times waiters will come to your table and offer you wine/beer/water/soft drinks sometimes it can be quite slow as it gets busy but go and ask them and they will bring it to your table, most of the staff are very friendly and remember the drinks that you like, I did tip 20dirhams each time I ate in the Italian to the lovely waiter that worked outside which is only about £1.50 but it was the service that made the lunch. Outside the front of the resturant on some days there was a grill that they cooked paella and other days there was barbecue which makes a change. Then 3-6 outside the Italian lunch there is a snack bar offering paninis, burgers, salad, French fries, pancakes, waffles and more to keep you going in the afternoon. In the evening the Italian becomes a fish set menu that you book into there is also a morrocon and the normal resturant so plenty to choose from. Men must wear long trousers at dinner.

Pool- the pool area is fab, very clean plenty of sunbeds and loungers the one annoying thing is that people were leaving their dirty towels on the best beds overnight and changing them to clean ones in the morning so when you came with your card to exchange for a towel sometimes there were none left as they wernt able to clean them from the day before. We were always honest and handed our towel in at the end of the day make sure you get the card back to get your new towel the next day. We always found a good sunbed tho although the best were taken and sometimes not even used through the day which was annoying when you see them rock up to the pool at 4pm whn skmeone else could of had a good spot, but on our last day we
managed to get a bed which was so comfy! We also found the beach was good, and you could get a good choice in the morning as people didn't tend to leave their towels on them, this is also private area that you are withing but the sellers will still try and speak to you from the fence.

Excursions- we didn't book any excursions with thomson we found a nice man called mousaffa who will be outside the hotel by the beach everyday and booked them with him although at first we were a bit dubious he is totally trustworthy and I reccomend him to anyone! We went on the quad bikes which was a must they are not to fast and you follow a leader so your not on your own and there was a brilliant surprise to this excursion I highly reccomend it- take sunglasses as it does get a little dusty but I was fine in shorts and flip flops. We paid 800 dirhams for 2 people but know people who paid 300dirhams each so worth a bargain with him! We also hired 2 bikes off him to bike down to the marina, he also does the camel riding, horse riding, 4x4 experience and lots more! He knows that I am mentioning him in my review so if you say you know from here he will be pleased.

Outside hotel- we walked down the promanade every morning it's a good 45min walk to the shops and resturants but a lovely walk at that. There are street sellers all the way down that will approach you but a polite no thank you will be fine! It's worth going to the shops to see the fixed prices before you bargin with the sellers, there is a lovely little souk that is signed posted on a board that you can go into. Just be wary when you get to the first supermarket after the resturants they have balls and boards and magnets outside normally there will be a child begging don't give him money also there may be a man with him claiming he will get you a jet ski, he said for us 350 dirhams for half and hour which we thought was a bargin so gave him a deposit of 150dirhams and never got a jet ski we saw him the next day and all his excuses said he would bring one that day to our hotel which he didn't and we later found out as mousaffa tried to get us one that cheapest was 800dirrham for 15 min. So just watch out for him he is unkept in his looks and will be around that shop. The marina is worth a look too it has a perfume shop, Zara mexx and a few more during Ramadan shops open normally about 11 there.
We are out once at the camel resturant it was delisious if you like eating out worth a try.

Evening- in the evening we would use the wifi in the lobby from here drinks can be ordered with the waiters who are brilliant, down the stairs there is the bar that has the entertainment which is a singer 7.30-9.30 who was ok entertainment was 9.30-10 which I was disappointed in and expected better I only stayed up to watch two of the nights the rest I spent in the outside seating with coloured lights comfy sofas and some music put on by one on the rui team. Drink were also brought to you here.

In the day there is tennis that you can book you need trainers, volleyball, aqua gym, and lots more to do if you want to join in.
In respect of the weather our first 3 days did consist of sea mist untill 10.30 ish then It became blue sky and sunny, we used the cooler morning to walk and look around without becoming to hot and uncomfortable and when we got back the sun was shining!
I did feel some French got preferential treatment but Moroccans speak french as a second language so I feel this is why, it can't be because they are friendly and tip because the French that I saw were rude and arrogant to staff and other guests.

All in all I had a fab holiday and I wanted to leave an informative review as I feel that others may benefit from it! Hope this is useful and enjoy the stay :)

The Riu Tikida beach hotel was lovely. It has 1 pool which can get busy- also, people get up extra early to put their towels on sun beds- so we did the same! If you can't beat them, join them! The food is magnificent, probably the best thing about the hotel. Good variety and high quality. Drink range is good too. We tipped the waiter so the service we received was excellent. Staff are friendly and polite and there is lots to do if you want, such as aqua aerobics, volleyball, tennis etc.
The beach is beautiful and the hotel has a private bit so locals cannot pester you with selling their goods, which is great.
We went on a tour of Marrakech- we probably won't go there again, it was just not our cup of tea. However, the food on the tour was good. There just didn't seem to be much to do or look at and we walked around the Souk alot. Would rather of stayed around the pool that day!
The room was big and cleaned every day to a high standard so no complaints there and we had a little balcony too.
Location is ok, there didn't seem to be too much out of the resort to be honest.
Overall, a nice little hotel and would recomend to friends

Room Tip: Don't be near the night club! It doesn't stop 'till the early hours and isn't includ...

Holiday from 24th June till 9th July.Hotel good value. Staff friendly, Drinks and food good and plenty, Tip well and you get very well looked after. Rooms clean and well fitted out, beds very comfortable. No tea making in the room but bottle water every day. It would have been a lot better if the bar and main restaurant looked over the sea not in a big dark void. Trips good value. BUT always cloudy and grey, one day out of 14 had blue sky. Most days only had sun 3 - 5. We were told this is normal for Agadir even in June and July. I wish someone had said before we booked, we would not have gone.

Room Tip: not over the night club
