Hotel Agadir Beach Club
Ranked #26 of 77 Hotels in Agadir
Reviewed January 30, 2013

We stayed recently at the Agadir Beach Club for one week and were delighted with our visit. This was our third visit here. The hotel is excellent for a sun holiday in winter time - weather in Agadir is almost certainly guaranteed to be warm and sunny during the months of November, December and January. The hotel has a lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers, a spa and health centre, several dining rooms serving Moroccan and other cuisines and a good Wi-Fi enabled public area. The bar lounge area provides a pleasant place to relax with a drink in the evenings and the entertainment is lively, with ample opportunity to dance to the music! As the hotel is right beside the beach and the 4 mile long promenade and within walking distance of the shopping area and the marina, it's ideally located for walking, jogging, swimming and shopping.

Having stayed in ABC many times before we knew food was not good so chose to go B&B as we got a good deal for Christmas and New Year. It is in an excellent location right on the beach and close to town so plenty of good restaurants on the door step. Even breakfast is limited and speaking to people who were H/B or AI plenty of food but just repetitive and poor quality except for the Moroccan which seems the best.
Great pool area lots of sun beds. Room was clean and plenty of space and bathroom very good - clean and plenty of hot water etc.
Small balcony. Staff are very pleasant and always helpful and if you tip regularly you will get a better service as is common in Agadir.
In summary perfect for winter sun on a B&B basis if you get at a good price.

We are a family of three our daughter is 20.We decided to do something different this year as normally we go to Lanzarote for Christmas.Different it definitely was....at the airport you are "greeted "with guys trying to take your case so as to get tipped for carrying it to the bus....this really sets the scene for the holiday.
At the hotel the same thing happens but in fairness to the hotel they are fairly efficient ( mostly)!
We were given a room which was adequate two twin beds with a side bed in the room... However on talking to other travellers at the pool the next morning we were able to get upgraded to a suite for a minimum payment CASH! This was fab a suite a double bedroom with a huge living area and a another single bed off this. There was a side view of the beach from this room.
I personally found the dining room an experience (we had booked half board). In the morning there was very little cereal and also only the only fruit were oranges and grapefruit.I found this very disappointing as we visited the local souk which was totally teaming with fresh fruit and veg.
The hotel was fine but I don't think we would return as the evening buffet was again miserable same old same old.
The pool in the hotel is very clean and well managed I also took part in the Pilates and aqua aerobics daily. My husband and I really enjoy running and normally run daily but I felt very intimidated running here due to the local male interest!

Room Tip: When booking if you are a family ask for a family suite.....

Like the previous reviewer I have never written about holidays. I have been to this hotel on 2 occasions prior to this visit but will not be back again. It has gone downhill badly since our last visit 18 months ago. We made the mistake of going all inclusive this time. After the first week I cringed at the thought of going to eat but couldnt afford to go outside the hotel for meals. Dinner was about the only ok meal. The waiters would pounce on you to sit at their tables just to get a tip.We asked for a non smoking table and the waitress just lifted the ashtray away from the table.3 times I had to say no smoking before she put us at a table away from everyone else. You could not get peace to relax on the loungers at the beach because of the locals selling their wares. One man tried to sell us 2 tiny bananas for 20 dirahms or 2 euros.Another called us Irish bandits because we tried to offer what we thought was a fair price. They think the tourists have a bottomless pit of money. If you visit this hotel take your own shampoo etc because altough they claim on the hotel advertising they only supply a bar of soap. All inclusive is one cheap wine or one type of beer.To eat in the 2 restaurants you have supplements to pay. On arrival we heard music coming from the bar and I thought oh no karoke but it was the resident group. They were woeful.

I've never written a review of a hotel while still staying in it, but on this occasion I feel compelled to do so as quickly as I can. I wish I had stayed at the 3 star hotel I stayed at 2 years ago as I feel I got honesty and value for money there. The facilities here are great and the building itself beautiful. But - the staff are letting the place down very badly and I doubt it could survive as it is. Reception staff are gruff and unhelpful. The staff in the Bar are lazy, disinterested and rude. Staff in the restaurants seem to run after potential customers regardless of what restaurant you are headed to and insist that it's OK to serve you Moraccan foor in the Italian restaurant, ply customers with plates of unordered food - all in an effort to get tips. They are obviously taking stock from the hotel in an effort to achieve this. It is far too obvious and very embarrassing!

Room Tip: Just ask, they have many empty rooms.

We have stayed in two other more expensive [and ritzier] hotels in Agadir but we very much enjoyed our stay at Agadir Beach Club and will choose to return on our next visit to Agadir. It has a great location, nice rooms, friendly staff, a great pool with plenty of beach chairs in a wonderful garden setting. The beach and the promenade are just on the other side and it is close enough to walk to restaurants. All in all we were very impressed.
