“Very Disappointed”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

I've never written a review of a hotel while still staying in it, but on this occasion I feel compelled to do so as quickly as I can. I wish I had stayed at the 3 star hotel I stayed at 2 years ago as I feel I got honesty and value for money there. The facilities here are great and the building itself beautiful. But - the staff are letting the place down very badly and I doubt it could survive as it is. Reception staff are gruff and unhelpful. The staff in the Bar are lazy, disinterested and rude. Staff in the restaurants seem to run after potential customers regardless of what restaurant you are headed to and insist that it's OK to serve you Moraccan foor in the Italian restaurant, ply customers with plates of unordered food - all in an effort to get tips. They are obviously taking stock from the hotel in an effort to achieve this. It is far too obvious and very embarrassing!

Room Tip: Just ask, they have many empty rooms.

We have stayed in two other more expensive [and ritzier] hotels in Agadir but we very much enjoyed our stay at Agadir Beach Club and will choose to return on our next visit to Agadir. It has a great location, nice rooms, friendly staff, a great pool with plenty of beach chairs in a wonderful garden setting. The beach and the promenade are just on the other side and it is close enough to walk to restaurants. All in all we were very impressed.

We spent 7 days in this hotel and had a nice stay there. The hotel is very big and has a nice pool area and gardens. There is a private beach for the hotel guests, which is situated very close to the hotel, only separated by one way.

The service was really good and people were friendly. Ofcourse, when we gave a tip, the service went faster and was even better. But in general, the service was fast, good and friendly.

The rooms are not very modern, a little bit old-fashioned. But clean and large enough.

The food was okay, the breakfast was very nice. They have some theme nights in the restaurant (fish evening, italian evening, morrocan evening), and we didn't always like the food. But they have some a-la-carte restaurants as well, and we really liked the italian one!

+ clean rooms with everyhing you need
+ nice, friendly staff
+ big swimming pool
+ private beach

- a bit old-fashioned decoration
- we didn't always like the buffet at dinner in the main restaurant

in general: good price-quality rate. We would consider this hotel again for a relax and sun vacation!

We spent 5 days of R&R at the Agadir Beach Club after a 16 day road trip through Morocco. It consists of several interconnected buildings around a central garden with swimming pool, separated from the beach only by the "corniche", a public walkway with brick tiles. An area of the beach is cordonned off for the use of hotel guests. There is a beach bar, parasols and beach chairs.

In the lobby and other public rooms there are many antiques. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the beach. The room itself had simple furniture, but everything worked well, including the surprisingly quiet air conditionning. As we were there during a heat wave (42°C) we were glad it worked so well. The only beefs with the room are the tiny cubicle for the toilet that was separate from the bathroom and the fact that only a bar of soap is supplied, no shampoo or shower gel. Also the soundproofing between the rooms is not very good.

The staff was just fabulous. You were invariable greeted with a big smile and à friendly "Bonjour" by everybody, and by the friendly banter among them you could easily sense everybody was quite happy working there. Even the bosses had a very cordial manner with the employees.

Breakfast and dinner were decent buffet affairs, but there are three speciality restaurants on the premisses. As my wife was trying to get rid of a bad case of tourista she had caught in a preceeding hotel we did not venture far from the buffet, except for one night were we got in the Morrocan restaurant even though we had no reservation.

I had the best grilles lamb chops I have ever eaten, and there was live traditional Morrocan music and a belly dancer.

Room Tip: Room with ocean view are a bit more expensive, but rooms overlooking the pool and garden are nice to...

We stayed at this hotel from 31 July – 11 August 2012. Luckily we paid the 2 Euro a day to have the use of a safe with the room. We had 2 adjoining rooms
However whist we were on the beech we left 2 mobile phones on charge in the LOCKED rooms (1 in each room) when we returned from the beech they had gone. No signs that the doors were forced. I believe but can not prove the thief had a key.
We reported this to the hotel reception at once, reception staff suggested that we go back to our rooms and look again. I had to demand that the duty manager came with us and pointed out that we were not that stupid. After visiting our rooms he gave us a form to complete, he did not seem in the least bit concerned and we were left with the impression that he thought we were laying about the phones.
We filled in the forms, handed them into reception we were asked if we could return to reception the following morning.
My partner Tracy attended reception the following morning and was met by security. Security then searched our room and all our personal stuff. Claiming that they were trying to help us find them.
Security at this hotel is a joke, during the day the back entrance that leads to the beach is left unlocked until 19.30hrs with no one in attendance. The only sign of security we saw over our 12 days was a man on the front reception who’s only interest was water purchased out side the hotel was not brought in.
A few days after the theft, my son and I were shopping at the local market, within a 2 minute walk of a police office. Their are a number of stalls openly reprogramming and selling second hand phones. We saw in excess of 100 phones on about 8-10 stales. I made out I was in the market for a Blackberry that would work in the UK. These guys proudly displayed many phones still with UK markings i.e. Orange, Vodafone they boosted the phones are unlocked to work on any net work in the world. Some even offered I try my sim to prove the phones work. In the 10-15 minutes we looked that these phones (secretly trying to find our own) 2 people with 3 phones for sell did business.
The hotel and the authorities must be aware of this problem yet refuse to acknowledge it. We even spoke to a lady on the beech that had her shoes stolen from the hotel.

Other than the zero security and the idiot that thinks we should want to buy their water at 3 times the price of the local shops the hotel is very nice.

Room Tip: If you have a family it is possible get ajoining rooms. Great if you have young kids.

I found this hotel to be very good for the price, it is centrally located and the staff were quite friendly, esp the guy who seems to do everything in there, one day he is doing swimming club, next he was lifeguard, next he in restaurant haha. Rooms were basic but nice, we had a see view which we didn't expect so that was nice. Couple minutes walk from beach and everything clean and handy
