“Lovely week in agadir”
Reviewed July 18, 2010

I enjoyed my stay at the Iberostar Founty Beach Hotel. The location was ideal for a family who would enjoy going to the beach every day. This hotel was very nice and it was all inclusive, The food was buffet style, very nice and loads of varieties to choose from, one thing which was not available for meal was baked beans. Chips, pizza and pasta were on a menu every day.
A snack bar is open from 12.00 till 3.00 at the pool side with buffet meal.
Unlimited drinks and ice cream thorughout the day and freshly made crepes during breakfast and in the afternoon between 3.45 and 5.00pm i would advise to go early as there is a big que afterwards.
Bedroom toilets do not have locks and public toilets do not have hangers on the door.

The pool side is very clean and if you want to reserve your deck chair you would need to put the towels out very early in the morning. it is preferable to take your own beach towel,or there is an option to hire you would need to give a diposite of 100 dirhams for each towel and this would be refunded at the end of your stay.

There is also an indoor swimming pool which is open from 12.00pm till 2.00pm
gym sauna and a tennis court availabel for use all day.
At the pool site there are two table tennis it would be useful to take your own bat and ball
but you could also hire it.
Animation team are very friendly and keep you occupied through out the day.
There is a mini club for young children an maxi club for older children.

We had a family room which sleeps upto for people and there was a sliding door partition towards the back of the room which had two single beds.

It;s cloudy but quite hot and breezey by the sea.

The staff in the restaurent could make a bit of an effort to put on a smile.

This hotel is exceptional, food good quality, always hot and filled up as soon as food became empty, first time i have ever seen a boil your own egg station at breakfast.
Staff could not do enough for you, from getting you a table in resturant, to finding an
unbrella when it got too hot. Animation team worked their socks off day and night, cant
believe that people could complain about the animation team on other reviews.
Just a perfect holiday, you could go for a walk day or night on the pedestrian prom
which is at the back of the hotel, always manned by police and every hotel that backs on to it has security, beach lights went out at ten, walk way lights stayed on. Took a twenty two year old and ninteen year old and both would return with friends. we will return.

hi, in this reveiw i will be giving a detailed review as when we booked the holiday we did not know what to expect.

we flew with thomas cook - they were fab!
the transfer from agadir was about half an hour.
the airport is basic, but what you expect - 2 duty free shops - a smokeing area - it is very small - 2 coffee shops.

When we went there were around 40 english people the rest were foregin (it was a full hotel) MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR TOWELS OUT EARLY!

if you want to party every night you have chose the wrong contry everything finishs at 11o'clock. they have there shows around 9 for a couple of hours they are watchable but not amazing. but bits are funny! the anamation team there are amazing - work from 11 in the morning to 11 at night and they dont stop!

the food is the same pretty much everyday. i am 18 and my partner is 21 and we wanted what we classed as normal food say 3 times a week. they dont do anything english apart from chips and pizza which on the first day seamed to us amazing however after a week it is not that appatizing. The english pub is really nice - big portions nice atmosphere. for the two of us is was 300 dirhams for 2 x burger and chips a pint and 2 x d.coke.

the staff are amazing, TIPS they treat you so much better after a sly 50 dirham tip.
Rooms you couldnt ask for better - very spacious and good veiw
may seam insignificant to some but the levels of the hotel are weird - as we were on the groud floor and you have to go up and down - if you want to watch the football in the day in the showroom (where the night time shows are) you have to rather go to the other end of the hotel for a drink as the bar opens at half 8 at night. or go up to the reseption and half way through the football it is not really what you want to have to do.

get taxis it may be an extra spend but it is worth it or walk across the beach when possable! it is just non stop hassle. poverty is obviously a problem there but it was not something we wanted on holiday.

we toke 450£ and spent 100£ at the airport. we paid for AI so we though 350£ was enough - we came home with £10. however we ate McDonalds everday and ate out 3 times and got taxis everywhere. so i would say 150£ perperson would be more than enoughh. taxis were bartering, they say 40dirham you say 20 dirham and so on...
in McDonalds is was 100 dirham for 2x bigmacs. cigerettes get them in england airport - the dont have any english brands - fortuna were there cheapest at 200 dirham (around 17£) for 200 - not bad but if you want brands stick to the airport.

we went on the camels, AMAZING! do it it cost us from thomas cook 16£ each so worth it something i would never forget. TAKE MONEY FOR TIPPS! around 50 dirham he will be happy the tour guides are amazing!

dont expect anything english you will be disapointed.

Hope this helps if you need anything else contact me via this or Facebook (Chloe Dillon)
i have photos on there.

For the last few years we have stayed at similar all-inclusive hotels around the Mediterranean, Canaries and North Africa, enjoying experiencing new cultures and different locations each year. This year we had settled on Morocco and were going to stay at the Tikida Dunas in Agadir, but when we came to book it was no longer available. After much searching and considering going back to hotels and countries we had stayed in before, we settled on the Iberostar Founty Beach Hotel in Agadir Morocco.

The last couple of hotels we have stayed in have failed to live up to expectations. Having stayed in a couple of very good Riu hotels in Tunisia and the Canary Islands, the last few, while not ruining the holidays it did leave us feeling a little short changed. I’m happy to say that the Iberostar Founty Beach has restored my faith that there are some good hotels out there catering for this market, and that my expectations are realistic.

Right from our arrival the staff were all helpful, polite and friendly as appears to be the case in general for the people of Morocco, much more so than in fellow North African holiday hotspots Tunisia and Egypt. Bar and restaurant staff could be a little slow and it was clear that if you were prepared to flash a little cash you could get a better level of service, however even though we chose not to, we never felt like second class citizens as is the case in Egypt. A special mention must go to the animation team however, who like the rest of the staff were friendly and polite, but made that extra effort to make you feel welcome without being intrusive. The day time entertainment was the usual fair, but their personalities made things that bit better. In the evenings while some of the entertainment was of the usual poor quality you get in this type of hotel, some such as their version of ‘River Dance’ were genuinely brilliant, even more so given the fact the people performing seemed to be master of all trades rather than just dancers.

The quality of the food could not really be faulted and I would definitely recommend a visit to the Moroccan Restaurant with waiter service (included in all-inclusive). The poolside grill provided lunch cooked in front of you, including handmade pizza and custom made omelettes. Evening meals served the usual fair, the choice not the best but above average and they do offer theme nights during the week. The only downside was the salad which was very limited and poor in choice. In the evening if you are prepared to tip the staff early on, you may find a table with drinks ready and waiting at meal times, though it does make it difficult to find a table at times as many of these tables are left unattended for much of dinner service waiting for people to turn up.

Another big plus is the cleanliness which is of a very high standard, something that seems true of Morocco in general. Even in the Souks and busy streets, litter isn’t a problem. The pool area is hosed down every morning (8am-ish), which as well as keeping it clean also stops sun loungers getting reserved early in the morning, though while we were there, even around lunchtime there were normally plenty of loungers still available. The hotel is right on the beach, which while public, the hotel has a private area with loungers and parasols for guests.

While there are children at the hotel and a kids club, most people seemed to be couples and in our late twenties/early thirties we felt quite young, with most seeming to be in their forties/fifties/sixties, but it certainly didn’t have an old people feel about it like some hotels in Spain. There seemed to be a fairly equal mix of French and Germans with a slightly smaller number of British (not great for watching a certain 2nd round match in the World Cup, but still good fun) and the odd Russian and Moroccan there too.

Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel, we had a great time, the people are great, the food better than average and the facilities very good too. One word of warning, only change money a little at a time. While the hotel will change your GBP/Euro/Dollar etc to Dirhams, they won’t change it back meaning a queue at the airport as you can’t take Moroccan money beyond passport control.

Finally, I would definitely recommend Morocco as a place to visit. Agadir is lovely and hot if you just want to relax in the sun, but unlike Marrakech has a cool Atlantic breeze keeping the air fresh. If you have been to either Egypt or Tunisia and found them either dirty or the people too ‘in your face’, give Morocco a try. It’s a wonderful country full of wonderful people and somewhere I would love to go back to.

My husband and I stayed here in May, and we booked the trip with Thomson a couple of days before travelling. We also checked the hotel reviews before we booked, and I am really glad we decided on this place.
We went at the beginning of May, so although it was warm during the day, it got cooler and quite windy in the evenings. It's a good time to visit because the Hotel was pretty quiet so perfect for just relaxing by the pool/beach (although there was a strong breeze coming off the ocean!) The pools are both a good size and really clean.
As other reviewers have said, the hotel and grounds are spotless. The rooms are a good size, but it would have been nice to have an English channel other than BBC World News!
Admittedly, the food in the restaurant is not great, breakfast and dinner were just okay. We had lunch at the poolside restaurant most days, which comprised of a hot and cold buffet, and was pretty reasonable. We ate out a couple of times. There are a number of restaurants along the promenade, with lots more being built. We ventured into the old town area one evening, and had a lovely meal there for a fraction of the price we had paid at one on the promenade!
The full body massage with Argan oil is a must - I booked this through the rep, and was collected and taken to a salon in the town centre, as the massage at the Hotel is quite expensive.
The staff are all really friendly and polite, and the Animation team work tirelessly at keeping the guests entertained.

Returned 13th July after one week.

Overall enjoyable break and good value for what we paid.

plus points:

excellent position, facing directly onto promenade and beach,
no noise disturbance from other rooms or other passing guests,
very comfortable beds,
air-con very efficient and not too noisy,
good size room/balcony,
point to note however despite having paid for full sea view we were initially given side view and it took some "discussion" before switch was agreed (full sea view room numbers in the sixties).

two good clean pools plus childrens,
plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas (no need to bag bed if you surface before 11ish although some did),

food and drink;

good seating areas,

Negative points:

food and drink;

large main restaurant area but slow clearing and setting tables, food repetitive and meat not tasty, fish unappetising, no scrambled eggs or bacon in morning (this has been available in all other african countries we have been to),

bars, often slow service unless your french speaking was good or you tip regularly, I appreciate some may say staff are poorly paid but it is all relative,

staff not particularly friendly, unless your french speaking was good, although they do appear to be family oriented.

Entertainment standard for this type of hotel.

As already stated overall enjoyable holidayand whislt number of negatives you will find some in all hotels, definately not four star as hotel is becoming dated but clean and tidy. Would recommend as long as bear in mind not in our opinion four star.

In overall we had a lovely holiday. The location of the hotel is good, very close to the beach with private area for the hotel residents; however it is a bit far away from the town centre. It is better to take taxi if you want to go to the centre and be careful because the driver might take you to different place where his relatives or friends have some shops. If you want to go to town you better go by an open train which comes every hour to the hotel and goes to the centre and back, so you can have some kind of excursion.
The food was very good, we never had any problems, even our little son (6) survived on pancakes, chips, pizza and ice cream, which is really good.
The animation team is fantastic. We really enjoyed every evening show and during the day they been brilliant, organized many different activities and competitions. Thank you very much for this, because entertainment is important if you stuck all day in the hotel, so big big thank you for this.
Also big thanks to all staff at the mini club and SPECIAL THANKS TO ALI- he is great with kids and they loved him. There were so many activities that some kids spent there all day and parents just relaxed on the pool.
The only downside was service in the main restaurant. To find a clean table in the morning was a challenge every single day, even if you find some clean table you have to ask for cups, spoons, forks and so on and wait who knows for how long. It was very annoying, because the same situation was every single day. It really spoiled my impression about the hotel and the service.
Apart from it we had a good time and I definitely recommend this hotel to families with children.
And one more thing, don't book the transfer with you travel agency, because they rip you off. There are many taxis outside the airport wich take you to the Agadir centre for max 15 euro or 170 Dihrams. Our travel agency asked 90 £ return, so we paid less then 30 euro for taxi each way.
