If you're looking for a clean, friendly budget hotel in a great location this can't be beat.
Staff are all friendly & helpful. We had a triple room with 3 single beds & there was plenty of space, two wardrobes & a large bathroom. Our bathroom was separated from the bedroom by a curtain but the loo had a lockable door. Beds were comfy & room clean. Maid comes daily & cleans very well.Very quirky '80s does Art Deco' styling in the rooms & public areas. Some would say it needs updating but if you want luxury & stylish decor then there are plenty of other, pricier hotels to choose from. There was entertainment on 3 of the 5 nights we stayed. There are an awful lot of steps to negotiate & no lift so would probably be unsuitable for disabled/elderly or families with buggies. The rooms are set out in an unusual complex of two or three story buildings in a moorish style & look lovely with the clean white paint. Although the main building where reception & bar are does look a bit like a 70s bus depot from the outside :)
The location is great, just over 5 mins walk from the beach with lots of shops & restaurants right outside. Taxis readily available outside if needed.
On the downside the buffet style breakfast was very limited. Coffee from a big urn, no tea, one type of cereal but plenty of bread & croissants & a lady making pancakes, omelettes or crepes to order. Weak orange drink (not juice) was a bit horrible but they don't mind if you bring your own juice.
There was a buffet style evening meal available but it was expensive at about £12 per person. Plenty of cheap places to eat nearby away from the beach.
There was no hair dryer in the room & none available to borrow from reception so do pack your own.
Toilet cistern noisy at night & door a bit warped & tricky to lock/ unlock but these little niggles are expected in budget accommodation.
Pool area well kept but small, separate kids pool & poolside snack bar. Children's playground a bit limited but ok & reasonably safe looking. We didn't need it but wouldn't have had a problem with it when our kids were little although not suitable to leave kids unattended there due to proximity to pool & certainly not a hotel where you could let the kids run about due to all of the concrete steps in the complex.
Table tennis table near playground but a bit of a let down due to no bats/ ball being available. Again, pack a cheap bat & ball set if you want to use it!
Most rooms have a shared patio/ terrace area outside rather than a private balcony but this wasn't a problem as ours was quite big & only shared with one other room. Plastic patio chairs are in the room - we had to take ours in when we went out after they disappeared on the first day, no doubt 'borrowed' by other guests.
All in all good, clean accommodation close to all the things you need at a great price. We'd definitely go again & would certainly recommend the Tagadirt.
