This is one of 3 restaurants on the square in Talborjt next to the Hotel Sindibad. A simple 3 course meal is 45dhms or around £3.50 at today's rates. You can just have a bowl of soup with bread for less than 50pence, or anything from grilled fish or meats, tagines, cous-cous, salads. No alcohol if that is a problem for you, but a great place to watch people as you eat a good value meal. I have been here dozens of times over the years, never been let down

If you fancy having a meal off the beaten track and none of the usual tourist type traps- then this is a must! We went for an evening meal and sat outside which offered a fantastic place for people watching. There seemed to be a real mix of locals and the odd tourist including ourselves. My girlfriend had the lamb tagine which was really tender am a million miles apart from the hotel food that we were use to. I went for the camel tagine (when in Rome) which was fantastic and highly recommended if your a bit experimental. All in all you couldn't fault this place. In terms of getting there- ask the taxi for hotel sindebad or just show him the map on your iPhone.

Hunted this restaurant down after reading good reviews. Hard to find on maps, and the taxi driver didn't seem to know of it. It is next to the Hotel Sinbad and very close to the Hotel Bahia. Sitting outside overlooking the square gives good people-watching opportunities. As a residential area we git an ideas of how the locals live, and it felt safe.

Set 3 course menus priced at 40, 45 and 50 Dh were a world away from what we'd become used to paying in the tourist areas. Salad starters were ok; we tried beef and camel tagines for main course which were still sizzling away in their dishes long after being placed in front of us. Desert options were very limited: yoghurt, fruit salad or creme caramel.

No alcohol served here.

Overall, certainly good value but not worth the effort.

My boyfriend and I tried several restaurants in Agadir, and Ibtissam was by far our favourite. The food was very tasty and incredibly good value for money: there were two three-course set menus for 30dh and 50dh, which in June 2010 works out at about £2.30 and £3.80 respectively. The bread and olives served prior to the meal were fresh, with the spicy salsa and yoghurt/onion dips being the best we'd tasted. The Moroccan soup (Harira) was absolutely excellent, and the tagines and cous cous were generously portioned and very well cooked. The deserts were both fine.

The service was great: the waiters were friendly and chatty and didn't hassle us. The setting was very relaxed: Ibtissam is in the Talboorj district, where the locals go to eat, and there were many people in cafes watching the World Cup and children playing in the square. It's not that far from the tourist district at all – you can walk to the harbour in around 20 minutes – so the taxi fare will not be high, around 20dh at the very most (less with the meter on).

We loved Ibtissam so much that we went again on our last night in Agadir – we just could not find anywhere better!
