Catholic basilicas are so interesting because although it's a distinctly Catholic building, they typically take on the characteristics of the local culture where they're built. Such is the case with Notre Dame d'Afrique which has distinct North African touches to its architecture, decorations, and overall construction. This is a beautiful building in a very safe area. It is free to get in, although there are signs asking for donations. The view from the hill on which the basilica is built is stellar. I highly recommend you stop here even if only for a few minutes, but it is worthy of at least 45 mins to an hour visitation.
