Au Bon Gibier has survived the restaurant scene in Algiers for many years simple because of its consistency of food and service. The menu is extensive for Algiers, has some classics (Duck a l'Orange, Tournedos Rossini and steaks done to your hearts content) and even has a very large selection of Duck dishes, which is unusual for Algiers restaurants but a pleasure to see.
The decor is a little faded but with a lovely outdoor courtyard area and a cosy inside, it is welcoming.
Prices for starters are around 8-10 Euro's, Mains 18-24 Euro's and deserts at around 6 Euros. The house wines were fine, both white and red at 6 Euro's per glass (quite a large one at that).
Service quality was good. All the waiters seem to know what they are doing although a little quick to get your order, they did leave you to enjoy your meal.
All in all this restaurant is a good, consistent restaurant for food and has great choices on the menu. It is on the more expensive side for Algiers, more a special occasion restaurant unless someone else is paying (business dinners etc)
Well worth trying out in my opinion.
