“Great place to spend Saturday afternoon”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

The garden is beautiful and I imagine it's even more so in spring. Great for walking, picnicking and above all people-watching!!! You can see all kinds of people here from small children running around to old lady-friends holding their hands and exchanging latest gossip :-) There is a nice restaurant in the center of the park and couple of refreshment stands. They also run a small ZOO but it's rather depressing. The Musee des Beaux Arts is right across the street from main entrance.

Attention runners: as much as this park could seem ideal for running (it's large and flat) they don't allow it.

“Very nice oasis in Central Algiers”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

While visiting the country on business, we managed a couple of hours on an unusually warm January afternoon. The gardens are lovely, though not manicured as we might see in western countries (I think of Quebec City, International Peace Gardens, Niagara Falls, parks in Paris, Tokyo or in the US). I enjoyed seeing the families and couples enjoying an escape from the bustling city. Very peaceful.

“a very nice though a small zoo”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

It was ok, although it did smell bad. The good thing is that you didn't have towalk a lot to see all (and there were many) the animals.

“Beautiful oasis in chaotic Algiers”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

We spied this garden, while on a half day tour of Algiers, so the next day, we asked our guide to drop us off at the entrance to the gardens after a trip to Tipasa. This is a wonderful garden. The people in the information centre (museum?) within the garden were very helpful to two anglophones. We obtained a guide to the garden and set out to walk. We went to the English section first and then to the French section. The plants and the vistas are really lovely If a garden looks good in winter, it has good 'bones'.. The people in the park were really enjoying themselves and were more than happy to take photos of us! This is a lovely park, well designed and a balm for the soul. One tip for the management of this park - how about some maintenance time spent cleaning up the statues? They are stunning, but a covering of green algae is not a good look!! These gardens are a winner and well worth visiting.
