This is well-known and popular hotel in capitol, located in bussiness district. Some part of hotel is renowated, but you have to pay extra to get room in new part. God option is to take room withview to sea. This hotel isn't something really special but it is enough to normal stay in Algiers

I've been at SAFIR hotel for two nights. It seems last investment in this hotel was made by Frenchs before Independence war. Breakfast not poor, terrible. Only it is well located. Probably 40 or 50 years ago it has been a good hotel.

Room Tip: I recommend to pay more and book somewhere else. Even with closed windows courtains didn't stop...

There is no question that Algiers is a city that offers hotels that are very overpriced for their standards. But in a country where tourism is low priority and the nearly only industries are oil and natural gas, the incentive to provide more is not a strong incentive. Finding a hotel with character in the heart of the city is difficult.. The Safir once had character...perhaps in the mid-20th century. Though rooms are spacious, the service level is with barely an attempt to please. The rooms have not so much as a photo or art and after moving to three different rooms, I resigned myself with reluctance, that I was unlikely to find a room where air-conditioning was going to provide cooling! The breakfast is terrible and the bare minimum; Bad coffee, overly sweet yogurt and juices that are anything but natural! It is a shame, as the location is great and the architecture can lend itself to turning this hotel into a gem with a facelift, but sadly, this hotel is anything but 5 stars and expectations should be best geared for expecting very little.

Room Tip: Ask for a room where air-conditioning definitely works! The only redeeming feature was that the wi-f...

We have spent four nights in this four star hotel!!! It was awful. We could not wait to checkout. The breakfast was so bad. A guard was watching you all the time what you are choosing. Actually there were not so many things to choose, Just coffee, a piece of cake. The elevator was prehistoric. The room was dirty and too old fashioned. No tissue, no towel and so on. Toilet was broken. And the sink was not working. We asked them to change out room. They did but the new one was not better.
