“Not handicap accessible! Pancakes do NOT look like this picture!”

This place is not handicap accessible, the front door has a wall within 2feet and the turn is sharp, door or entryway would not accomodate a wheelchair. Bathrooms are down very narrow stairs, with a sticky handrail (yuck). Overall atmosphere is very dirty and we do not know how this passes a health inspection.

No toppings were offered for the pancakes the day we ventured in. The pancake is good, but the Whistle Stop in Boone are better. The syrup is watered down. My husbands sausages were good.

I had the "everything" omelet which everything consisted of celery (lots of it and it was good) a few green peppers, even fewer onions, I found one slice of tomatoe in the whole omelet and no ham as advertised. They do their omelets where they flip the egg and put the rest on top covered by shredded processed cheese, not good at all.

Won't be back.

I wanted a good, traditional breakfast this morning, so I tried the Grove Cafe in downtown Ames. Very traditional diner. The menu was very limited, no biscuits and gravy at all. So I ordered a ham/cheese omelet with hash browns and toast. The omelet had lots of ham, but the eggs were burnt and thin and stale, virtually no good taste at all. But the 'hash browns' were even worse. They were just left over baked potatoes that were chopped up and warmed on the griddle, just awful. As I left, at least I did see a huge pancake that looked pretty good. But for what I ordered, not again.

Small, but not intimate - you won't find candles on these tables IF you find a table. The place is packed for good reason

Cyclones pancake is a must. Yellow pancake with red raspberry jam.

This restaurant is known for pancakes, and so it should be. They are exceptional and one is enough to more than feed someone. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but makes up for it in taste.
