We were taking a leisurely drive from Nebraska to Philly when we noticed we were very close to this attraction so we decided to stop. The entry fee was $7 apiece but it was worth it as the gardens were lovely. They had a butterfly garden that was nicer than the one at the Omaha Zoo. The gardens weren’t huge but they were well laid out and landscaped. The local hospital was having a picnic there so it was rather crowded, even for a Sunday. My wife particularly liked the vegetable and Rose gardens. My favorite was the Stafford Gardens that were in a somewhat obscure upper corner of the facility. While they appeared small at first, they were rather extensive and the wild flowers arranged among the sculptures in a natural manner. The lilies in the pond were lovely and it was a nice place to relax for a couple of hours. It also gives one a chance to drive around the Iowa State University campus in which the gardens are located.
