“Well Worth a Visit if You're in the Neighborhood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

We were taking a leisurely drive from Nebraska to Philly when we noticed we were very close to this attraction so we decided to stop. The entry fee was $7 apiece but it was worth it as the gardens were lovely. They had a butterfly garden that was nicer than the one at the Omaha Zoo. The gardens weren’t huge but they were well laid out and landscaped. The local hospital was having a picnic there so it was rather crowded, even for a Sunday. My wife particularly liked the vegetable and Rose gardens. My favorite was the Stafford Gardens that were in a somewhat obscure upper corner of the facility. While they appeared small at first, they were rather extensive and the wild flowers arranged among the sculptures in a natural manner. The lilies in the pond were lovely and it was a nice place to relax for a couple of hours. It also gives one a chance to drive around the Iowa State University campus in which the gardens are located.

“Butterfly Garden Shouldn't Be Missed.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

Unfortunately, we visited on a rainy/chilly day and so our tour of the grounds wasn't as long as we would have liked it to be. We did enjoy the "Garden Art" and the vegetable and rose gardens but did not have the chance to see all the gardens. Having said that, I would go back just to visit the butterfly garden again. It was large, TONS of butterflies, and a very helpful staff member spent a lot of time answering all our questions - She really went the extra mile. Definitely worth a visit.
