This restaurant is in the middle of the Amana Colonies. They serve some German food as well as many American dishes. Desserts are what they are famous for. We had room to share just one. We had excellent service and actually returned with relatives later in the week.

We ate supper here all four nights, and had breakfast on our last day here. The food is awesome! Service is good too! Try the chocolate cream pie whether you are on a diet or not!

All you can breakfast (family style) with juice, pancakes, eggs, toast, fruit, homemade jam, potatoes, ham and bacon will truly start your day in the right direction in the Colonies. The Ronneburg was perfect--service, quality, cleanliness of the restaurant and bathrooms, value for price.

The one thing I would change would be the quality of the silverware. It reminds of a poor mans picnic from the church fellowship hall. I would invest in higher quality silverware.

My husband and I have traveled across the U.S. and have also been to Germany. Compared to other German style restaurants in the U.S. and actual German restaurants in Germany, this restaurant was an absolute disappointment. We ordered the family style Sauerbraten with potato dumpling and the Jäger schnitzel. Both meat dishes were very tough and the spaetzle was bland and a little greasy. The sides appeared more to have an American flare to them...canned corn, very creamy/mayo coleslaw, and we had no idea where the cottage cheese fit in. The sauerkraut had a different sweet taste. Simply put, we were not impressed and would not go back.

the main entrees were not as good as other restaurants in the area. However, their sides: pickled beets, cole slaw, dumplings, fried potatoes & gravy and cottage cheese were EXCELLENT!
