We have visited several Amana restaurants and they are quite similar - rustic, quaint decor; clean; friendly service; traditional hearty family style meals. The Ronneburg is no exception. We visited it mid week in the fall, which is a nice time to visit since there are few other visitors.

We were seated in the lounge area by a sliding glass door to a patio which provided good views of the nice fall day and a quiet place to talk to friends who met us there. We had the oven baked steak, a variant of Swiss steak, which was very tender and quite good. The sides were cottage cheese with chives, corn, potatoes and gravy, sauerkraut, coleslaw and bread and butter. The only time I eat cottage cheese is to sample different varieties of it to remind myself why I don't like it - however, this version with chives and seasonings was worth a few bites. The corn appeared to be the canned variety and not as good as the frozen we are accustomed to. A glass of white wine from the Mosel region was very good as was the coconut cream pie for dessert. As with all family styled venues, there was no lack of food. Our server was very friendly and efficient and since it was a dead time in town, we were not rushed.

This restaurant provides a variation on a theme employed by several other Amana restaurants. All serve similar dishes and sides with slightly different recipes/preparation - sauerkraut salad versus plain sauerkraut, plain cottage cheese versus with chives, different breads, etc. Some will prefer one over the other, but I didn't find anything exceptional to differentiate the Ronneburg from other similar restaurants. If you like this venue and type of food you will probably like the Ronneburg as well as some others. Having said that, I will go back and can recommend the Ronneburg to others.

We ate breakfast here twice. The staff were personable and fun to talk to. The family style breakfast was great. Well prepared and tasty. I would recommend it. We were met the second day by staff who acknowledged us as having come in for our second time.

My husband and I met family here, and it was excellent. All the sides were superb. The service was wonderful. The staff even let us stay and chat. No rush just good food and company.
