We finally stopped to eat here after passing by for years, but we shouldn't have waited so long. The food is Mediterranean, and it tastes great, especially the Greek-inspired salad. All our food was enjoyable, and the portions were certainly not skimpy.

The staff are prompt and courteous, and the friendly owner is on hand to greet folks and make sure they are satisfied.

The place doesn't look like so much from the street, but looks are deceiving.

“Unexpectedly good middle-eastern for this area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2010

My ratings are low because of the smoky atmosphere. We have eaten at a number of Greek and Turkish restaurants and find the food here to be better than the average. The hummous is outstanding, the falafel is delicious. I can't get myself to try anything else when I go!

The service is very spotty, we've gotten decent service and we've gotten bad service.

On the negative side, the owner smokes a lot, right in the heart of the restaurant, and the air exchange is very poor. Also, people often order the flaming cheese and that adds to the smoky atmosphere, as does the burning incense. Don't go if you have asthma! If you can get past this though, the food is wonderful.

“Best Middle Eastern restaurant in the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2010

Every dish you order at The Nile will be superb. The gyros meat is the most tender we've ever had. I've never tasted a better hummus, and the falafel is fantastic. The service is great, and the belly dancing adds a nice (but sometimes loud) touch. There is a great beer selection (a nice surprise for a restaurant this small), and the Turkish coffee is a must! We love the decor, just it would be nice if there were no smoking or incense.

“Good Food, Non-Smoking Would Be Better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2010

The Nile is one of few good locally owned restaurants in Anderson. Walking in feels like going back into a 1970s Egyptian themed restaurant. Food is good, but the smoking section ruins it. The place is so small you can't escape it. Wouldn't take my child.
