Description: Welcome to the Palms Grill Cafe... It's not only the sound of the 1930s-40s music playing in the background... It's not only the smell of the delicious, home-cooked, daily Blue Plate special wafting out from the kitchen... It's not even the taste of that first forkful of made-from-scratch coconut cream pie (...And all the other great pies, too!). It's when everything you've been hearing, seeing, feeling, smelling, and tasting combine that you realize you're living the Mother Road the way it used to be. Join us to experience Rt. 66 The way it was when the Palms Grill Cafe first opened up in 1934 along Rt. 66 In downtown Atlanta, Illinois.

“WELCOME TO 1940”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

You open the door and step into the world of 1940 with stools at the counter, a pinball machine, big band music, and blue plate specials. Here the essence of the Route 66 experience is distilled into a savory, multi faceted treasure.
As a bonus the food is excellent, the portions generous, the service superb, and the prices quite reasonable. Don't forget to save room for absolutely delicious pie.

“Wonderful!!”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Stopped at this cute, quaint fully restored Historic Route 66 cafe while sightseeing. Friendly service, very nostalgic and the best pie I've probably ever had. It will take you back in time. A must visit!

“Great place on Route 66”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Well worth your time to stop at the Palms Grill Cafe on your Route 66 travels. The restaurant has been restored to the days of the 1940's. The food is very good - especially the truly homemade pies. The apple pie is out of this world good - your grandmother could not have made it any better. This is just a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere in small-town America. This little one-block downtown really is nice. There is a museum you can go thru, great shop featuring works from local artists. Think.....Mayberry! You will probably be looking down the street to see if Deputy Fife is patrolling in his squad car.

“Vintage Cafe Refreshes the Senses and Palate”
Reviewed December 22, 2011

This beautifully restored pre mid-century cafe is only a minute off of exit 140 of I-55 in the quaint town of Atlanta, IL. Why go to a chain when you can go to this convenient place near the Interstate. They have Blue-Plate specials, pie, and authentic diner food. Service was very quick and cordial. I will eat here anytime I am travelling between Chicago and St. Louis.
