I've never stayed at a Red Roof Inn before and WOW!!! For the price you can't beat it. It has a beautiful and very spacious park right next to it within walking distance to the west. There was a special place where they keep elk there. I've stayed everywhere and this place is the bees knees! It's freakin awesome!

No breakfast (a Denny's was pointed out across a very busy street with the admonition that they will honor a 10% discount), slightly stinky, old rooms with little upgrading to the whole complex. The receptionist was extremely helpful and wanted to do her best but a litany of complaints from other patrons seemed to have her resort to explaining that her manager will be informed. One resident at the reception complained his key didn't work and the room wasn't made up the day before, to which the receptionist asked, "... but how is the room today?" The response was, "I don't know, my key wouldn't work." The first room was probably derived from a broom closet so asking for a $10 upgrade got us a slightly larger room with a safe, fridge and coffemaker, along with a table that you could set up a computer if the plugs nearby worked, which they didn't. The coffemaker had to be taken as its only function as there was no tea bags to be found. The 7 AM wakeup call that was requested never came but the radio dutifully woke us up at 3 AM. Two keys were given for the room but to confound matters more, another one was in the room, which, you guessed it, didn't work. The amount of logistics that went into providing a modicum of supplies was truly stupendous; the wrapped tissue had exactly four tissues, likely the result of extensive studies as to how many tissues were needed. The same applied to the shampoo in a sealed sleeve, exactly the right amount for one shampooing. Now, on a positive note, the beds were fine, wifi actually worked and the air conditioner could serve as a refrigerator. The offshoot is "ya gets what you pay for".

Room Tip: Read the tripadvisor comments carefully, very carefully.

CONS

Cleary its not a Hilton. The rooms are out dated, which I do not like, but if you don't mind a tube tv then it's no big deal.

I was here a month so I had 4 different rooms. They were over all clean. Just found some old receipts behind night stand or under bed. I did find a condom in the night stand. Atleast it wasnt used.

on any given friday or saturday night there is some loud guests. But it is taken care of quickly. Otherwise a very quiet stay.

PROS:

water is hot and gets hot fast

beds are great.

a/c works fantastic

tvs work good (for tube tvs)

housekeeping is very friendly

front desk very friendly.

plenty of dresser space

if you gey a room with a fridge and microwave, the fridge is a good size.

gas station 100 feet away, no nee db to cross any streets.

And something else I may mention.

One night we were having problems with our door and the front desk woman named Amber moved our room and it was an upgrade at no extra cost. For a week long stay, I consider this awesome!

Over all, great place. You can do much much worse.

I had to change flight plans and needed a last minute place to stay near the airport. The price here was reasonable, and considering what I paid, I was satisfied. The staff I did encounter were very friendly. There were a couple damaged furniture items and a bedspread that needed to be replaced, but other than that my room was clean. There are places to eat very nearby and there are vending machines on the property. I only stayed one night, but the one night I did stay was satisfactory.

If you must, this is a hotel to spend a night and save some money. But it really isn't much and it really isn't O'Hare. First, if you are driving, this is up the toll road about 10 miles from O'Hare. It isn't one of the hotels near the rental lots. Unless you are driving northwest, you probably don't want to stay here. Second, while the shower was hot and the bed reasonable, that is as far as any review could take it. The carpet is frayed, the towels are paper thin, the - well, you've stayed there before. For 50 bucks (my price - I was there only 5 hours) on the way to somewhere else, it is worth exactly that. Otherwise, pay a couple more dollars and at least feel like you are in a real hotel.

This hotel is 12 miles from O'Hare and if you get a taxi at the airport, it will be at least $40 and take a long time if he isn't traffic savvy. We called ahead and the hotel hooked us up with a friendly Mexican taxi driver who took us for $23 each way. The hotel is very basic, a cheap motel. But clean and comfortable small rooms. Denny's is across the street and Applebee's is a block away. Other than that, there's not much there.
By the way, we didn't choose to be in Chicago. We were stuck here because our connecting flight was cancelled.
It's the best value I found in a quick search, and served its purpose.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second (top) floor to avoid noise from above, and it was quiet.
