“low key hidden gem :) next to seven eleven!!”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

ok i have been going to this place for a while since it is a few minutes away from my home but i am stepping outside the box and not trying to be biased at all. the food is really good. its adorned with simpler decor, but very clean. the food is delish and authentic. i love everything from their classic burritos, to their filete en mojo de ajo ( a fish fillet marinated in a garlic, lime, salt and olive oil and grilled to perfection) it is light, decadent, and yet filling another dish to try is the platillo burrito jalisco grilled skirt steak served with beans in hot chili sauce, a fresh quesadilla, and fresh guacamole on the side ..yumm yumm! the portions are generous and the drinks... oh good lord!! i have been to many other restaurants that skimp on the liquor! i hate that! i have had margaritas, long islands, bloody marys etc. etc.. and they do NOT skimp! you get your money's worth! i suggest a margarita on the rocks with sauza tequila they also offer frozen which is a little bit lighter if you want to take that route if not go with the rocks one. two more drinks to try that are on a lighter alcohol note are the vampiro which is a fizzy light slightly sweeter version of a bloody mary ..or a classic and very mexican "michelada" a mexican beer infused with mildly spicy and rich tomato, salt and lime flavor! my beer of choice here for this is "sol" which means "sun" its a full bodied rich light amber beer which is perfect for the ultra yummy and super refreshing "michelada" !! on two days out of the week wednseday ( i think ..call to verify) and sunday ( i know for sure) at 6pm they present a free mariachi!! all songs and dedications are on the house..now that is my type of dinner and entertainment! super place to check out!!

“AMAZING FOOD!!!!”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

If your traveling anywhere near 294 and the Alsip exits, get off and go here for mexican food. I always get the shredded chicken and steak on my tacos or torta. This place puts Taco Burrito King (another Chicago staple) to shame. It is located next to a gas station, and the outside does make you want to question your stay but trust me, friendly staff and amazing food!

“Tasty food, fun little extras.”
Reviewed October 19, 2010

We weren't sure whether or not the food would be excellent at Burrito Jalisco as the exterior wasn't very promising. The interior did little to sway our concerns, but the staff was friendly so we thought we'd give it a shot.

Thank goodness we did. I had the lengua en salsa verde (beef tongue in green salsa) and was absolutely impressed. That cut of meat is difficult to cook correctly, but the thin sheets of meat dissolved in my mouth. It was the best thing I ate all weekend.

The boyfriend's combination platter was a variety of burritos, tacos and more - stressing the and more part. He couldn't believe all the food that came on the plate and could barely finish.

Perhaps the best part were the little extras that were unexpected from such an unpretentious place. The mariachis were warming up for a performance as we left, if there hadn't been people waiting for a table, we'd have loved to stay. And dinner was served with chips & salsa (the spicy one was perfect heat level) and zanhorias (pickled carrots) that were to die for.

I would definitely recommend Burrito Jalisco to anyone looking for a moderately priced quality meal.
