This place is a find! The cabins are utterly charming, and the proprietor and his niece were incredibly warm and helpful. My favorite part was the flowers -- you can feel the love that this family is putting into this property. Beds were comfortable and the cabin came with a little dining table and unique antiques. Right on the road, but you don't hear the noise. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to Yellowstone.

Thank you very much for your kind review. My wife, Jennifer, spends alot of her time at the motel taking care of the flower beds and flower containers that are all around the motel property. I get the pleasure of insuring that they are all kept well watered. Jenny also spends alot of time decorating the cabins.

Older hotel in an old town. Clean quite and easy to get to. As close to Yellowstone as you can get for the price. The only issue we had was low water pressure for shower. Would stay again and recommend others to do the same.

Thank you for your kind review. We are on our own well system so if most the other motel rooms and cabins were using water when you were there might have been lower pressure than normal. Usually there is more than adequate water pressure to all our units but we would encourage any of our guests to let us know of any problems they are encountering.

This was our one night stay after a 12 hour drive from Oregon (on the way to Yellowstone N.P.) It was a great value for a family of 3 ($80 for a two room cabin). The ambience of the place is priceless. We love places that feel like Grandma's cabin. The cabin was cozy, clean and felt like home. This motel is on the busy highway heading to West Yellowstone, but the traffic slows down to almost nothing by 9 or 10 pm. It was very quiet at night. The motel owner was very friendly and helpful. Look forward to our next trip to Yellowstone (and another visit to the Rankin Motel!).

we just needed a night's stay on the way to West yellow stone. So we were looking for an economical hotel with decent reviews and at with in an hour's reach from yellowstone. This hotel worked out excellent for us. Robert from the hotel was very friendly. He responded promptly to our booking when we booked . He agreed to be available anytime of night if we ended up arriving late.At 11.p.m. at night he was still friendly and fresh welcoming us.He gave a nice two room cabin ( for the throw away price we reserved). He came in after we moved in to the room to make sure we have everything we need. Next moring before we left, he took initiative on guiding us about roadblocks/ alternative scenic routes etc. The cabin he gave was old but maintained very well .This is not a luxury resort or anything. But was more then well furnished and had a brand new refrigerator /microwave etc. This is perfect for the overnight stay and If i had to stay even few days, would have still preferred this hotel ,for the value and service i am being provided for a cheap price.

Thank you for your very kind and complementary comments about the Rankin Motel. We normally close the motel office at 11:00 pm but if I know that our guests are going to be later than that I am willing to stay open for another hour or so. I always try to provide our guests with the latest information as to road construction delays or accidents that may affect their travel plans.

We came from California through Salt Lake looking for a place to stay outside the West entrance to Yellowstone. All the places at the entrance were booked (about 200 a night) and this place we found by accident. At about 80 bucks a night (for three of us) we decided the savings in our pocket was worth the drive to the park which was a little over an hour. Bob was really great and gave us great info. We had a two room little cabin that was very clean and cozy complete with old books nice little wall heaters sinks microwaves and a small fridge. The beds were comfortable and the linens were far better than a hotel. Homemade quilts and lots of comfy pillows. It’s like spending a few days at Grandma’s house. The next parking lot over has a gas station and nice market to stock up on supplies for your day at the park. BTW, Yellowstone is a spectacular place and a must see.

Room Tip: the closer to the gate to yellowstone the more expensive...

Thank you for your very kind review of the Rankin Motel. We try and provide the atmosphere of a home away from home. Each of our cabins is decorated in a different style but still provides the same comfortable feeling for our guests. Many of our guests use us as their home base for exploring Yellowstone National Park and Teton National Park.

This motel was a find. A little over an hour from the west entrance to Yellowstone, this town has been untouched by the tourist industry. That being said, this hotel was very comfortable. The rooms were a decent size and the beds were comfortable. The owners were very nice and told us about Mesa Falls which were definitely worth the detour. Overall, I would stay here again if I was traveling to Yellowstone.

We stayed there in the end of April. Very calm area, very few people. The property itself is old but it is kept clean. And the owner is very nice and welcoming and his dogs are really charming. This is not a place for a long stay I think but if you go there just to have sleep - it's ok. The main minus we had - the room was quite cold and damp.

Thank you for you review of the Rankin Motel. We had just opened the motel for the season and all the rooms had been closed up since November of the previous year. We do have thermostats in each room that can be adjusted for heat with a seperate thermostat and fan in the bathroom. We do have many people that use our motel as their base while visiting Yellowstone National Park and Teton National Park.
