At first glance you won't be attracted to this place. Don't let looks deceive you. Their hamburgers are delicious! Fries are fresh cut. Shakes and malts hand mixed. One of the highlights of our trip.

“Excellent Burgers! (and I am not a burger fan)”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Several years ago I quit orderring burgers at resturaunts because they often were made with frozen beef patties that were dry and flavorless.

On a recent business trip in the Orofino/Ahsahka area of Idaho, the boss took us fro lunch at the Woodlot, a funky looking taveran and cafe - The building was a little rough on the outside, and the decor a bit dated on the inside, (like most businesses in the area). The servers wore big smiles and were very friendly. The tables were clean, and the clientel was a mix of locals and tourists. Even though cafe shares space with the taveran, I would feel comfortable bring kids here.

WoW! What great burgers! Seasoned hand shaped patties that were cooked all the way through but were amazingly juicy without being greasy - They have two sizes of burgers that are served with big sides of well cooked fries! All soda's are served in a 24 oz plastic cup (ask for smaller size and they will accomadate you)

There were 8 of us in our group who orderred burgers and I believe only two were able to finish everything on their plate! The Lumber Jack is truly a monster that you must "squish" to fit in your mouth while the Lumber Jane is smaller version but is still pretty darn big and a bit easier to eat! Everyone in the group was pleasntly satisfied with the meal and I heard no complaints! As a big group of 8, the service was a bit slow but really, not too bad. I would rather wait fro a great burger than eat a fast food puck!

The burgers are "Excellent" - But overall I rate the place as "Very Good" because the decor could be improved upon.
