Goat Island is truly one of the most beautiful places I've seen. My husband and I found it accidentally while exploring a local beach. We decided to walk across to it and explore the area, and were so glad we did so. It is peaceful- there were maybe four other people there- if that many, and has a white sandy rock-free beach with crystal blue water.
Years later we decided to take our three teenaged boys there. We made it half way across when our youngest stepped on a sea urchan. Not knowing if they were poisonous or not, we left to take him to the ER. We were quickly told to pour vinegar over the spines, which was all of the treatment he needed. But, he is now scared of the water and he won't go back in.
In June we're going back to Oahu with our oldest son and will, once again, make the "walk" out to Goat island. This time we'll wait for low tide, or will bring a float of some sort with us. You must be strong on your feet or you must float over- one or the other. If you're wobbly or unsteady, don't try it. Also, wear shoes!
It is by far one of the most gorgeous places to go- don't miss it!
