Large grassy park on the ocean and not very crowded. Unlike many Oahu attractions, Kualoa has ample parking. Primary reason we went to the park was to photograph Mokoli'i Island also know as Chinaman's Hat. If you want a quiet get away to walk or picnic recommend Kualoa Park.

It is a nice big, wide open park with no homeless living there and (when we went) a police presence by the front gate. The views inland were beautiful, and you could see across the bay to the Kaneohe Marine Base where they filmed part of Battleship. A lot of the drive around the island has short sight distances because of the vegetation, but this is one of the few beaches where it is safe for kids to actually walk around away from traffic and the homeless and pick up a shell, look at crabs, and see some of the countryside for a few minutes. Your car remains in sight the whole time also, so the chances of it getting broken into are lower than at many beaches.

Coral-strewn bits of beach,a reef bound shoreline and frequent strong winds, make this beach ideal for clearing your head from the excess of the night before.
The view towards the Sacred Ridges and the mountains of Kane'ohe is breathtaking. We were tempted to wade out to Mokolii islands but were warned by locals that currents sweep people away and the coral will be damaged underfoot. I took their advice, but stored the image of wading out for another visit. its a grand beach within a magic location.
Thanks for asking...my head has cleared.

My Mom and I stopped here on our way around the island to stretch our legs. I was surprised at how large the park is. There were many family gatherings but there was room to spare for every one to enjoy the park. We went to the end of the drive and parked as there were less people at that end. After walking accords a wide grassy area we came to a very small beach. The sand was clean and the water was warm. The beach dropped off sharply only a few feet so we didn't go into the water very far. And, since there were shark sighting warnings all along the beach, we really didn't want to swim!
