We drove out to the very end of the lava fields and parked. Hiked along the ocean to the very southern point of this lava field. An amazing bike and adventure with so much to see and take in!

Thanks to all the great reviewers on this site. Trusted and followed your excellent info on driving to, parking at, and hiking through the lava fields. The only thing I would add is how amazing the forest is, soon after the blow hole. The trees are like something out of a Grimm’s fairy tale or a Wizard of Oz. And so many goats. It took this lady with 50 year old knees a little over an hour to make it to the beacon (it was above 90 degrees too) but I loved it!

Spent our first morning in Maui exploring the lava fields. Kids and adults enjoyed exploring the beaches on the way, the trail, the views, the tide pools w/sea creatures, lava rocks, goats, etc. We spent about 3 hours here. It was not crowded and a good introduction to the area and understanding of the last lava flow on Maui. Food trucks on the way back were good. Highly recommend for a family adventure. Wear good shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Bring your camera/phone.

The lava fields in Maui are absolutely amazing, the trail that goes along the beach is just spectacular with the lava rock formations and the way the waves hit them.
