“So Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

We just spent a week on the north of Kauai and a few more days in the south. This was our kids favorite beach for boogie boarding and the area is so beautiful. As with any beach, wind and weather could make the bay too rough but we happened to have great weather and the perfect type of waves for us. I could see how parking could be a problem but we were always able to find a spot.

“Hanalei Bay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

We go to Kauai almost every year and like this area enough to buy and use two weeks of timeshare.
This is what Hawaii is really about. This is a large beach with different entry points that have different character. It can be busy, but not anything like regular tourist destinations. There always seem to have surfers to watch. There are several world class surfers who live here. Even on high surf days the inner waves close to shore are safe for beginners.

I went snorkeling on the .beach next to the St. Regis and nearly ran into two turtles by accident. I was too busy looking at fish.

When you need to find something else besides beach. Hanalei town has food and fun shops

“Old Hawaii At It's Most Beautiful.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

This is a must see on your visit to Kauai. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Getting there is half the fun. The lush trees that grow over and make tunnels on the way, the charm and courtesy of the local drivers giving way when going over the many one lane bridges, and the beauty of the bay when you arrive. No wonder they call this the "Garden Island". The beaches along the way have white sand and warm water. Not too many people on them.
I would make sure that you fill up your car before you go and have a good part of a day to enjoy the many attractions at the bay and along the way.

“Not what you hear”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

The town of Hanalei and the adjacent bay are very pretty but crowded and expensive. Difficult to find parking in town and at the beach parking lots. The beach is crowded and the surf is very inconsistent and is either too big and closing out or too small. Everything is very expensive even for Hawaii. People, especially the locals are rude and arrogant. It also rains a lot and there is no night life. Do not recommend coming here. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

“Beautiful Beach”

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The pier is lovely. It can get crowded on the weekend. Soft sand, lovely waves.
