“Kalalau Lookout at Koke'e State Park - Do this while in Kaua'i”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

You will find some of the most incredible vistas at the Kalalau Lookout found in Koke'e State Park at the end of Waimea Canyon Drive. The view is of the Kalalau Valley as she opens up into the Pacific Ocean. There are also many trails around the park. Be very careful as some are maintained and others can be very dangerous and not for the casual hiker. Also be aware of the weather as it can change very quickly at 4000 feet. Enjoy, take photos and say hello to the Brazilian Cardinals.

“Worth the long drive up!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

This lookout is awesome! Deffinitely worth it. Even if your taking a helicopter I would still take the drive in to see the lookout, cause then you will be able to get a picture or you and your family/friends in front of napali. Very nice bonus reason to head up. If your feeling risky you can take the Kalepa ridge trail, which is not an official trail, and at times dangerous, (we only went like 100yds and then got scared and turned back) which is located to the left end of the fencing at the lookout, (theres a gate) Be very careful if it just rained. Death by 4000 foot fall is never fun.
Word of advice, if your headed up to the lookout, check the weather up there, or at least on your way up look at the sky and use common sense if it looks like rain up there, you may not ever be able to see anything, napali may be covered in clouds. Also its cold up there!! If its 80 on the beach, its probably 55 up there!!

“Worth a journey!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013

This view is utterly breathtaking and well worth the drive from Waimea. Even though you have seen the pictures, there is nothing like actually being here a few hours before sunset to have the light from the west sharply etch the multiple ripples of jagged mountain tops dropping away to the ocean below. One can spot waterfalls, luxuriate in the ultragreen vegetation, gaze at the signpost down the road at the very last viewpoint "Wettest place on earth," and marvel at the clouds rolling by showing and hiding the gorgeous scenery.

“Breathtaking View”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

If you have driven up to Waimea Canyon and haven't stopped at this lookout, then you have missed a significant part of this tour. Here is where you realize how impenetrable the terrain is on the island. After driving from the South side to “almost” the North side, you can only see it in the vast distance. But what a view!
