“Worth a Look if Passing By”
Reviewed June 14, 2010

Its worth a look and a stop, but not a huge highlight.. The falls are at a bit more of a distance away than is typical.

“Nice Waterfall”
Reviewed October 25, 2009

I absolutely just love waterfalls of every kind!!! And Opaekaa Falls was a spectacular waterfall to view even from the distance the lookout is. Its super easy to find and well worth the drive. We stayed in Kapaa so it was only like 10 minutes from our resort and very close to Wailua falls so you can do both pretty easily. Right across the street is an ancient Hawaiian temple site. The temple was ordered to be dismantled back in the 1800's but the walls still exist and it was kinda cool to read about it and see that site.

“Quick and Easy”
Reviewed July 23, 2009

The falls is located right off the road with a place to pull off, park, and wall around. We were not able to get close to the falls, but I will it can be done if you are willing to do a bit of hiking. It is one of the more impressive falls in Kauai.

“Opaekaa Falls were beautiful!”
Reviewed December 8, 2006

The falls were very beautiful and so was the adventure that we took trying to get to the bottom of them! It is really easy to get to the lookout point to look at the falls and there was a stand there selling coconuts and such - delicious! Anyways, we had read in the Ultimate Guide to Kauai that there was a way to get down to the bottom of the falls. We followed the directions that the book gave us and though they weren't that great and we had to kinda explore a little to get there - it was totally worth it! There are even ropes to help you get down some of the steep parts. Once you get to the bottom you are rewarded with an awesome view of the falls as well as a nice cool dip in the pool beneathe them!
