“Great Beach that has it All”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

Great sand, lifeguard on duty, sights of the Ne Pali coasts, fantastic trees and good snorkeling. This is the furthest North and West you can travel on the island of Kauai. Nice facilities for bathroom and cleaning up after being on the beach. This is a memorable ride and trip worth taking.

“Relax, Snorkel, Hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

What a great beach. There is so much to do to suit all different type of people. There is an intense hike at the start of the beach (you can make this however long you want). If you want to go to the lookout, it's a mile there and back. If you want to go to a remote beach, it's four miles there and back. If you want to do the whole thing, about 21 miles there and back.

Snorkeling is pretty good here. The beached is almost entirely enclosed by a reef. Lots of different types of fish to see. There were many people snorkeling. Because the beach is enclosed by the reef, the waves broke on the reef making the water by the shore very calm (early September when the winter swells had just begun to come in). The water is nice and shallow. I just sat in the water for about two hours. Very relaxing.

There are also bathrooms and a shower that are quick walk away. Parking is very limited and the police were giving tickets to those who parked in the no parking zone. There were also a LOT of chickens here. We didn't mind them though.

“Great Place to Relax and Watch a Sunset”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

This beach is at the end of the road on the North section of Kauai. The beach has massive trees that line the beach and make a great place for campers. There is a lifeguard stand and running water in the camping area. This beach is at the trail head for the Kalalau Wilderness hike. For the surfers, it seemed to be a place that several liked. Around the bend, there was a great location for snorkeling. There were also several people snorkeling at this beach. Well worth the drive.

“End of the road..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

This beach is the end of the road on the north shore. Absolutely beautiful for snorkeling and is one of the patrolled beaches (not many are). The beach is not that croweded but parking can be an issue so get there early or be prepared to park a couple of miles away and walk down.
The hiking trail begins from here and was one of my favorite things we did in Kauai. We did a short hike, swimming, snorkeling as well as stopping at the caves all in one afternoon. Very easy day out and did not feel rushed at all.

“Gorgeous beach”

Perfect for snorkeling! Be sure to check the weather, however, the last time I went, the weather did not permit for snorkeling.
