Service staff were very helpful and even with our reserved room not ready at 5pm they had a clean identical room available on a different floor. When we realized we accidentally got a double, they luckily had a king available and were very accommodating. The room was standard but lacked any sort of dresser and with a large wall unit, had half of it not being used for any type of storage. Bed was comfy and room was clean. Breakfast was good and the hot food changed daily. Hot coffee, tea and cocoa available 24/7. The gym was nice and had enough to try and stay in shape. Location was a good deal from downtown and in a very poor location for traffic. The only way to head downtown is to take a left onto a 7 lane highway straight into a stop light.

...it still is dealing with the renovation. Arrived the first night late....they had to "find" my reservation for the second night (one night paid and one night on points). Staff was polite but had a time putting it all together, then had to check out and check back in (i.e. get the keys rekeyed). Oh well, that was ok. Got all elevator and saw furniture from a room in the alcove...hmmm. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. Room was nice....but, no one had bothered to plug in bedside lights (getting to a plug behind king size beds can be a problem!!!!) and TV. So, maybe the old furniture was from our room????? Anyway, even with all that we will probably return. Lobby area is quite nice and the staff was very nice.

I was very impressed with this hotel. I didn't know if I needed to stay two or three nights, it didn't matter to them whatever I wanted to do they worked with me until the very end and were extremely pleasant about it. The lobby is very clean and nice and has hot drinks (coffee, tea and hot choclate 24/7 - nice touch). The rooms for what you pay for were very nice. Comfortable beds with douvet covers - nice touch. The bathroom is a separate room with a door that closes, size was not large but big enough. The shower was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast had a lot, eggs (prepared differently each day), sausage, tater tots, milk gravy, buiscuts, oatmeal with toppings, waffle maker, cereals, fruit, eggs, danish type items, blueberry muffins, bagels, jellies, cream cheese, butter. Good location, although it is a bit of a pain to leave hotel and go downtown athens, you have to do a u-turn on Atlanta Highway....be careful. I have to say, for the money, this was a very clean and nice hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. And the staff were super nice - all of them. The rooms didn't have a refrigerator, but when you got ice what else do you need.

The Hampton Inn in Athens, GA is for the most part very nice. We stayed in a King room with a love seat sofa. It had all the amenities you would expect, mini frig, microwave, hair dryer, iron & board, flat screen TV, coffee maker, etc. There is no in-room safe (not a big deal). I was pleased to find the toilet paper to be double ply. We carry or own because so many hotels skimp on this with single ply. The free breakfast was good with plenty of choices. If you're staying for just one night the accommodations are good. But, if you are staying several nights, as we did, you'll find storage space severely lacking. There were two small night stands each having three small drawers and there is a single deep drawer beneath the microwave and the closet is small. We were unable to unpack our suit cases even though there was plenty of space to accommodate a chest of drawers. Housekeeping is poor. The bed was made and the room straightened each day, but the floors were ignored. The last guest left popcorn on the floor which we cleaned up and the hassocks were dirty.

Went to Athens for a football game. Hotel was a bit older and much of the common areas were under renovations. The lobby was recently remodeled and beautifully done, but the floors in front of the elevators were slab where the tiles had been torn out, the elevator carpets are in desperate need of replacement and the it's obvious that the rooms, although very nice, are also in need of renovations. Our stay was comfortable and quiet. However, I thought $169/night for a hotel that is undergoing major renovations was a little much to ask. Applebees across the parking lot.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor...while the hotel was sold out, it was quiet and comfortable.

Hampton is a hampton is a hampton. Its what you would expect from a hampton nice bed. Ok breakfast. Clean. Nothing special but better than most. Great cookies before dinner!!! Love those extra touches. Need mini fridges in the room. Close enough to downtown but could seem a little far for most people. You cant walk to downtown way too far.

I chose this property because it's a Hampton and the HGI in downtown was not available for our dates. While there are plenty of restaurants near the hotel the traffic pattern makes it difficult to navigate if there is any congestion at all. The staff is as nice as you could ask for and the facilities are clean, but the beds are in dire need of an overhaul. We originally planned to stay three nights but the EXTREME rate increase on Friday night (attributable to the UGA football game on Saturday) encouraged us to move down the road a bit. We'll probably look elsewhere the next time we visit Athens.
