“Not a vegan, but . . .”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

Absolutely love. Had a veggie plate with squash casserole, broccolli ( got both lemon butter sauce and Thai peanut sauce . . Can't decide which is best), and curried chickpeas w/ spinach (asked them to hold the rice). Seasoned well, everything. Just awesome. All of this for about $6.

“Satisfied....I could eat here every day!”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

The Grit never disappoints. I have been a loyal customer, frequenting the restaurant since 1995. It has such an awesome variety and will satisfy any appetite. It hands down is the best place in Athens for brunch, serving up the Jittery Joe's Grit Blend coffee and offering a wide variety of breakfast burritos, omelets, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, biscuits, and two types of gravy. Lunch and dinner always pleases, again offering a wide variety of sandwiches, pasta, veggies, soups, salads, stir fry, Indian cuisine, gluten free options .....there is something for everyone here! And let's not forget the tofu. The Grit style tofu is out of this world and something everyone should try at least once. It will not disappoint. Last but not least, how could I not mention their desserts! The ever changing dessert case offers anything from cookies to brownies, to pies and cakes. Tons of vegan friendly options too! Hands down one of the best place to eat in Athens! There is a reason why it is known as the King on Prince.

“Yes!!!!”

Vegan yum. There really is something for everyone here. I could not stop ordering food here! I can't wait to go back to try another daily special. I had the Asian-inspired rice noodle bowl which was great. However, my daughter's grill cheese was epic!

“So tasty we bought the cookbook!”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

We just made our second trip to Athens and eating at The Grit was on the top of our to-do list, especially since this time my indescriminatarian husband was with us veggies :-) He enjoyed his food as much as we did. We went back for take out the next night, and we came home and cooked the recipe for the grit style tofu from the cookbook for our pet-sitters and they loved it too! The menu is varied, the portions are generous, prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is funky but clean and not too edgy. Our server was a lifelong local that had answers for all all of our questions about the area and never let our drinks go empty. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food and is going to be in Athens while it is open...
