The BBQ is good but some of the sides are just okay at best. Mac & cheese is outstanding. It's very much out of the way on the RR tracks across the street from Stan Mullins sculpture studio, so you have to know how to find it. Given that, it has a regular clientele and nice ambiance.

Went on a Friday night on a no-football weekend and got right in -- lots of parking was available. Half of the seating is up a flight of stairs, so call ahead if you need handicapped accommodation.

The restaurant was BYOB on this occasion, but our server said this was temporary. We had smoked catfish tacos, pulled pork on a Kaiser roll, and a bowl of green chili pork. Side orders leaned toward smoked items -- even cauliflower and potato salad were smoked. Our party had varied reactions to the sides, but we found it overall to be nice but not amazing, a quiet, informal place with good service and something on the menu for everyone. The petite desserts were traditional and delicious: banana pudding and a fudge brownie.

Went after UGA homecoming expecting the typical plaid tablecloth , etc.. Group of young and old menu had a variety of well priced items. I had the Reuben that was great well portioned. The theme is a open warehouse / loft seating . It is not a huge restaurant but you don't feel that rushed ,hurry ,to flip the table feeling. Was the food the best ever possibly not but the atmosphere makes up for the menu limitations. Nice surprise ,off the beaten path.

Sit outside in nice weather and watch the trains roll by for some ambiance. The building was originally an ammunitions warehouse. The sauces were authentic - not too sweet. Good selection of beers. The slaw is based on vinegar and lime which compliments the heaviness of the meat very well. Special available after 10pm when they sell at $5 until the BBQ is gone.

I had heard great things about PHBBQ online and in print so I finally decided to check it out for myself. The upsides are that the menu is quite large and can suite many different tastes, the food is very reasonably priced, and the sauces are good. However, our experience was less than ideal. We went at 5:30 on a Friday night, when the restaurant was not very crowded yet it took over half an hour to get our chicken wing appetizer. When the wings did arrive the skin was soggy and sloughed off taking the sauce with it. The wings were not crispy or hold together well as you might expect. After waiting another 30 minutes our main courses finally came out. I did enjoy the pork plate that I ordered as well as the mac and cheese that came on the side. We ordered the redneck reuben, which sounded great on the menu but turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the night. The bacon was so dry and thin it was impossible to bite. Even after taking the sandwich apart we could barely cut the bacon with a fork and knife, it was the same texture as beef jerky. We found hairs on top of the second order of mac and cheese which should have easily been noticed before the food came out.
We were seated near the drink station where the waiters and waitresses were clustered. They were loudly saying some nasty things about previous customers in full earshot of the restaurant. Having worked in service positions myself in the past I understand the need to vent about difficult customers but doing so in front of current patrons is highly unprofessional.
Overall I was very disappointed and do not plan on returning.
