I'm not an art person, but I had a class that visited this place. It's brand new and amazing inside and out. If you like art, then you'll love this place!

The exhibits are wonderful and the renovation of the museum is amazing! It's worth a trip just to see the building.

“Lots of Great Art and Staff, a couple of rotten apples”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

I loved the opportunity to go to this beautiful museum. What a collection! And most of the staff was the sweetest. But there are a couple of "docents" that were downright rude.

I don't know if standing in a super-quiet room all day is getting on their nerves, or trying to keep exuberant students (which I am not) away from the art is getting to them. But I hope that the management will see this review, and maybe do a little gut check with some of their no-doubt dedicated, but maybe burned out staff. They need to be reminded why they're there - to help the public get acquainted with these great works of art, and to educate them, in a pleasant way, about the correct distance to stand back from these priceless gems, not snap their heads off for a slight misstep.

Very relaxing place to tour solo or with a date. The events are well done and the permanent exhibit now has an expanded gallery. First class exhibits. Family Days wonderful for children.

“Okay for an Art Museum”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

We went on a Sunday afternoon. It is not only hard to locate the parking area but hard to find the entrance to the building once you park. The museum is located on a one way loop and parking is off to the side and behind the building, after you drive all the way around the loop.

Exhibits were okay but there were not a lot of them, and it only took about 45 minutes to see everything. There were no other guests in the building but docents (students) were stationed everywhere. The woman at the front desk did not greet us but spoke only after we addressed her, asking for directions to the exhibits, as the starting point was not evident. Turns out the exhibits are on the second floor. I have seen better art museums elsewhere but this was still an enjoyable activity while in Athens.
