Our vacation stay at Banana Beach resort was a slice of heaven. It is a bit of a taxi ride from town, but this type of tranquility is rare and the scenery is breathtaking. During our whole five day stay we felt pampered and well-cared for by the staff. They made us feel like part of the family. Rand, the owner, went out of his way to check in with us each day and make sure we were comfortable and happy. I especially appreciated him setting up an appointment with one of the tour guides in the area to plan our day trips. I really enjoyed walking over to the covered open air restaurant each day for meals. The food was excellent and the chef made us feel special. Free breakfasts were great, and the off-season prices were a great value. The room was clean and comfortable and we overlooked the surf, When we return to Trujillo, we know already where we will be staying.

Room Tip: It seems all rooms have a beach view, but I especially liked the bungalows right on the beach.

Great vacation spot. Lovely pools, beautiful Caribean sunsets and wonderful walks on the beach collecting shells. Very friendly atmosphere from the owners to the casual staff. Will definitely return soon. Loved it

Room Tip: Any room would be perfect

Banana beach resort was absolutely beautiful as well as the people that worked there. Our whole family went to see my husbands family for the first time and we chose to stay here for our entire 10 day stay. The service was very friendly and thought the food was delicious. Thank you Juergin! It was a pleasure to talk with the owner Rand. Very nice and friendly. It was having a little piece of home. I would highly recommend this place and when we go back we will definately want to stay at Banana Beach resort!!

Owned by an ex-Texan Expat, this restaurant/resort will appeal to the masses. This is perfect for the cruise ship passengers slated to visit when Trujillo builds its new cruise ship dock. It feels like a Margaritaville inspired place. Many more authentic places in Trujillo. Our table was served 2.5 hours after ordering. After 1 hour, we asked for the appetizers and told it would be a few minutes. After 2&1/2 hours, we got our food, after many others who had arrived after us put in their orders after looking over the menu. Our good nature turned to discontent after an 1&1/2 hours and became anger after our complaint was met with contempt. Contrived, sub-par American food, expensive for Honduras, long waits, poor service...but perhaps all the good reviews is because it's the only Americanized game in town. If you've been in Honduras for a while and need something familiar, this could be a good option, but the service and the ownership/management leave much to be desired.

As part of a recent medical brigade, we stopped at the Banana Resort for lunch. In a nut shell, service was horrible. Our group waited nearly 3 hours to finally get our meals, while it was obvious that others were being served prior to us. Appetizers finally came as we were finishing our lunch. Cold Corona's weren't available to our group, but we saw many others being served them. When told by a member of our group that had found a plastic wrapper in her food, the owner, Rand, told her to relax, that she's in Honduras- that kind of stuff happens and to not worry because she's with a bunch of doctors. To top it off, our group was substantially over charged for our meals. Though we did not stay at the resort, nor even see the rooms- the crappy service and matching attitudes of owner and staff was enough of a turn off. Never again will we patronize this aweful establishment.

My wife and I had been to phis gorgeous place for a day visit and had enjoy it very much, This last time we stayed there the night and we can't wait to do it again. Tha natural beauty of the place doesn´t need to be explain, but at night is so quite you can forget about the rest of the world. You can seat by the beach and not see anyone for hours. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and well furnished.
The owners, Jenna and Rand are very friendly and their employees are very polite and helpful, something not very common in Honduras.
If you are looking for a reasonably priced, quite and comfortable place for a relaxing stay by a beatiful beach, this is the place. Also forgot to mentioned that the food is good too and they have a great pool run with American standards for public pools.

Room Tip: The bungalow by the beach.

My husband and I stayed at Banana Beach for 5 days over Christmas. It was a very relaxing holiday. The beach is beautiful; often we were the only people on the beach or in the water. Service is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Employees are treated with respect. We cooked most of our meals but the food we did order was very good. Christmas dinner was especially good. The cabin we stayed in had a huge porch facing the beach which we loved, and a well-stocked kitchen to cook meals (no toaster or microwave). The cabin does need a bit of upgrading especially the bathrooms/shower. The road from Trujillo to Banana Beach is not paved - a 4 wheel drive would be helpful although we did make it in our rented car. Overall would definitely recommend for a relaxing holiday.
