A little PEACE of paradise!
If Tegucigalpa is on your destination schedule anytime in the near future, then Humuya Inn is definitely one of the country's best kept secrets!!!
I stayed at the Humuya Inn the week of Thanksgiving 2007 and it was spectacular. Since the hotel is nestled in a somewhat residential area, it provided relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the capital city while still offering easy access to downtown and other destinations.
The hotel's décor has a distinct Mayan-pueblo feel with unique nooks for reading, conversation, or simply playing cards and an exceptional tropical back patio area. Furthermore, the hotel room was spacious with a private bath, balcony, and sufficient storage space. Scott, the Humuya Inn owner, and Henry, of the Humuya Inn Hotel staff, was exceptionally helpful and assisted in securing day-trips to other Honduran regions, identifying choice restaurants, and cab rides to multiple destinations.
All and all, I sincerely believe electing to stay at the Humuya Inn created a unique Honduran experience and it provided an incredible insight into the country and culture!
I would recommend staying at the Humuya Inn without reservation!!!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- At last - a rare hotel in the Honduran capital that gives reviewers a chance to gush. It's a triumph for good taste, both in the well-appointed guest rooms and long-stay apartments, all set in a quiet residential neighborhood.Once a spacious Tegucigalpa home, this keeps the trappings of a comfortable family residence with the trimmings needed for modern business travel. It's a beacon of class and courteous service in Tegucigalpa. Rooms in the colonial-style house have been lovingly furnished in Honduran mahogany and decorated with striking Lencan pottery and photos of the country's charms. From the Italian ceramic floor tiles up to the vaulted ceiling, it creates an ambience where you're happy to dally - unsurprisingly, there are many long-term stays. The focal point is a lush patio where lychee and mango trees shade diners taking the complementary breakfast buffet. Climb to a fourth-floor terrace for a 360-degree panorama over Tegucigalpa's sloping sprawl. ... more less
