Two colleagues and I stayed at the Humuya Inn for four days on a business trip to Tegucigalpa. The hotel was small, intimate, and relaxing. The bilingual staff could not have been more helpful. They recommended places to eat and sights to see. We had to move about a lot during our stay, and they arranged for an excellent driver to get us around. I chose the Inn after reading reviews here, and we were all pleased with the choice. If we return, we will stay there again.

My stay at the Humuya Inn was amazing! The service was excellent, they were willing to cater to my every need. Also, I really appreciated that their employees spoke Spanish and English.Even though the Inn is located inside of the city it is a great escape from the hustle and bustle. I absolutely recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a great place to stay!

We stayed here 2 nights in a large room with good spaces for working and reading and a huge bed. Only thing I didn't like about the room was that we couldn't open the window (it faced the street and crime in Tegus is high) so had to use AC all the time. The hotel is small, quiet, only 15 min from the airport and is well guarded. It has a lovely small interior patio and garden (visited by hummingbirds!) and a very informal small restaurant with a limited menu and beer and wine. The most outstanding thing about Humuya Inn is the excellent service. Staff is friendly and very accommodating to guest requests, including arranging secure transportation and sightseeing in this not-very-safe city at a reasonable cost. I had to make a 3-hour conference call back to the US and was very worried about the cost because the Honduran government has a phone monopoly and charges exorbitant rates even if you use a US-based call-in number. It initially looked as if my best option was going to cost 42 cents per minute. But Scott, the Manager, and Henry, the Assistant Manager, worked very hard to explore the alternatives for me and came up with one that only cost $20 US for 3 hours of calling time. I would never have gotten that kind of help at the Marriott!

My 16 days at the Humuya Inn in July 2010 were wonderful. This was my 7th stay. Each one has been wonderful. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the food excellent. I strongly recommend the Humuya Inn to women traveling alone. You will find the Humuya to be a quiet and safe place to stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
At last - a rare hotel in the Honduran capital that gives reviewers a chance to gush. It's a triumph for good taste, both in the well-appointed guest rooms and long-stay apartments, all set in a quiet residential neighborhood.Once a spacious Tegucigalpa home, this keeps the trappings of a comfortable family residence with the trimmings needed for modern business travel. It's a beacon of class and courteous service in Tegucigalpa. Rooms in the colonial-style house have been lovingly furnished in Honduran mahogany and decorated with striking Lencan pottery and photos of the country's charms. From the Italian ceramic floor tiles up to the vaulted ceiling, it creates an ambience where you're happy to dally - unsurprisingly, there are many long-term stays. The focal point is a lush patio where lychee and mango trees shade diners taking the complementary breakfast buffet. Climb to a fourth-floor terrace for a 360-degree panorama over Tegucigalpa's sloping sprawl. ... more   less
