Assuming that you have the time and wherewithall to make the trip, it is a trip worth making. I've been here several times in the past ten years -- each time to spend about 1-2 hours -- and aside from the large statue of Christ on the park's grounds, arguably the park is an expanse of humble gardens, a park, and a very small zoo. The park is nicer now than any previous visit, and the cost is cheap. Probably the best vantage point anywhere to see the expanse of Tegucigalpa laid out nicely below you. You can even watch the jets land after winding their way in through the mountains -- yes, likely you experienced that unique experience getting here from within a plane. One gets a view of the hazy city with the benefit of crisp clean air, and all the bustle down below with almost infinite quiet (ok, you may encounter a busload of schoolchildren, but generally this is a very uncrowded locale). Peaceful.

El Picacho is worth the trip if nothing else for the views of Tegucigalpa. The park itself isn't much and the small zoo will most likely disappoint you if you have much for expectations. They do have jaguars although they were quite thin. When we were there the monkeys had managed to get out of their cages and were really annoying as the pestered everyone.

The views of the city are quite nice and are unlike most views you can get without venturing into an area you shouldn't be in so that's quite nice. The statue itself is ok too and the park makes for a relaxing walk. This is probably a place you should visit in Teguc but probably won't be a place you return to much.

I'm not sure how you would get here unless you are skilled driving in crazy traffic or you have a daughter who has moved there and bought a car so she can drive you. But this is worth a long visit. We went end of November and must have brought cold weather with us. We were pretty comfortable, but the natives were frozen out! We had the park to ourselves, yet there was still some security around. It would be more beautiful, I suspect, in the spring or summer. We do not regret having gone. The views of the city alone were worth the small entrance fee.

It was a great place to get a fantastic view of the city. We could see various places that we had visited from a great vantage point. The statue and zip line was nice. We had a driver take us to the park so finding it was no problem. It was worth the extra 50 cents to enter the garden surrounding the statue.
