From the city below, you can see El Picacho from almost every vantage point, and it is definitely worthwhile to take a trip up the mountain to see it close at hand. The statue itself is ok (not super stunning), but the views of the city are very nice. Bring a camera. We enjoyed the walk there -- it was very tranquil, and felt quite safe, and there are lovely gardens around. This is a good activity for a few hours.

The statue of Christ wasn't as impressive, perhaps after seeing the one in Rio de Janeiro, everything else looks smaller and less impressive. The statue itself here was beautiful but the way it was propped onto a pedestal was tacky. They could have just made the statue larger feet up, again I don't know all the details. It is well worth going up there because along the way there are amazing foliage, gardens, and views. The view of the city is outstanding from here. You have to be lucky to have a bright and sunny day without anything to obscure the view. The zoo is along the way as well. You pay about 30 Lempiras total to get to the statue. One into the United Nations Park where the statue is housed, 20 Lempiras and to the see the statue another 10 Lempiras. I had a personal escort and it made everything so much easier.

Besides being within the Tegucigalpa city, it's a nice way to spend the day. It has a great view of the city, the park surrounding Christ of El Picacho is peaceful and safe. There are permanent police and military presence. It's a nice place to walk around and spend the day. They have a nice souvenir shop and a small butterfly museum.

El Picacho is a great place to spend a good part of a day. There are excellent views of the city, as well as places to take a nice stroll, let the kids play on the play ground, and grab a snack.
The statue itself is not altogether impressive, especially not after Brazil, but it is still worth the visit.
