I have been staying here since December 8, 2010 (it is now January 12, 2011) while I look for a job and an apartment/house. The owners (family owned - Roberto and Nancy) have treated me as family and have been very, very helpful in my 'quests'. The rest of the staff can only be classified as wonderful!
Extremely clean and comfortable. Free wifi. Cable has some, not a lot, of US stations in English! Movies are for the most part in English with Spanish subtitles. Can't say enough good things without sounding like a commercial. Not exactly a luxury hotel, but more like a comfortable private hotel!
It is within safe walking distance of two significant American style shopping malls and other general shopping. Cab service to the City Mall is around 40 Lempira ($2.12 USD) Almost any popular American food chain you can think of it here. The exchange rate is about 19 Lempira per dollar, so things are really inexpensive. One of the nicer restaurants here might cost you $15 - all inclusive. There is a lot more money in San Pedro than meets the usual travelers eye, but the wealth is distributed very much 'the haves' and the 'have nots'.
While you read reviews of how 'dangerous' Honduras is, I have yet to witness or experience any of that. It happens, as it does in almost any country or city, if you venture into the wrong areas. You do not want to venture out in public with expensive jewelry or other things that make you a 'target' .
