“Nice place, nice people”

My partner and I stayed at the Diving Pelican for three days before heading to Roatan. Everything you read here is true. Jim and Cathryn are nice. The dogs are just the best, and the rooms are good. However, if you come during the week, or during the summer, you are in for a real treat. YOU HAVE THE WHOLE BEACH TO YOURSELF. Completely. Utterly. It was terrific for us, just starting a honeymoon. We needed time to relax and adjust to the heat. DPI is right on the beach, and it is a nice swimming beach. Nothing to see snorkel-wise, but a fun place to frolic. Jim and Cathryn had Luis pick us up at the San Pedro Sula airport, which was much appreciated. Room was clean, AC worked, and the kitchen met our needs to make our own lunches (fridge, stove, water, etc). Jim's breakfasts are good - especially the sauteed 'plantanos' (plantain chips). I would say that on it's own, it's a great place. HOWEVER, there is a restaurant just a couple of doors down that really complements DPI well - Paradise Found. We had dinner there each night, and the two of them together were perfect for us.

Finally, just a note that Jim was very helpful in arranging trips for us. We appreciated that immensely.

We recently stayed at the Diving Pelican Inn for two nights – what a wonderful place!
Right on the beach, about 30 minute ride from La Ceiba, with a view of Cayos Cochinos and an amazing sunset, nice rooms, clean, comfortable beds, relaxing…. The owners Cathryn and Jim make you feel at home. They were very helpful in arranging for us to be picked up at the hotel for a day trip to the Cayos, where we really enjoyed the island hopping, snorkeling and meeting the local people. Our teenage son also enjoyed the Zipline at Sambo Creek, which is only 5 minutes away. Jim makes unbelievable breakfasts and there are a number of good restaurants within walking distance for lunch or dinner. All in all – a great value and a terrific experience. Highly recommended!

We stayed here for a night before going to Roatan for a week to celebrate our engagement. Jim was so nice, and cooks one hell of a breakfast. We highly recommend!

Just returned from a wonderful visit to Honduras, where we spent 4 nights at the Diving Pelican Inn. Jim, Cathryn, Baxter and Duke were wonderful! Jim and Cathryn were so friendly and accommodating. They arranged for Luis to pick us up from the Ferry and then helped us to arrange for a rental car through Avis for our trip to Las Ruinas de Copan (also a must see in Honduras).
Jim took us down to a wonderful restaurant (Kabasa?) in the Garifuna community of Sambo Creek where we had a wonderful meal one evening and when it got dark, he came back and picked us up.
He and Cathryn are very knowledgeable about the area. We had a great time playing with Baxter and Duke. They really helped us not to feel so homesick missing our dogs back home.
We spent one day just hanging out at the beach, going back and forth to the champa for drinks. We also spent a wonderful day on the zip lines and the hot springs that are walking distance (about 15-20 minutes) from the Diving Pelican. The scenery is incredible, the food is amazing and the people are the friendliest around! I would recommend a visit to the Diving Pelican and Sambo Creek/La Ceiba to anyone.
We hope to be back soon!

I just returned from my visit to the Diving Pelican Inn. This is at least my 5th visit to Jim and Cathryn's B&B.
As usual i was warmly greeted just like being gone from ure grandparents house for a extended period of time.
There is a new addition to the Inn, "Duke Beaurigard Fleming". Seems their boxer Baxter was in need of more companionship so they got him a little brother.
He won't be little for long, it was more than entertaining watching the two of them play tug of war, tag and other assorted pooch games.
I spent several weeks there this trip and each day was as delightful as the last. My hosts were as kind and considerate as all my previous visits and I'm already planning my next visit late this year.
This is a pearl of a place to visit, i cannot say enough good things about my stay there.
Suffice it to say relaxation and good company at it's best.
If you travel to Honduras put this first on your list of places to stay.

We stayed here for 3 days during a whirlwind trip in Honduras and were most impressed with both the comfort of staying in Ceiba. The owners know HOnduras well and are able to make the very best arrangements for tours and suggestions for places to dine. Jim also cooks up a big breakfast. The beach is a few steps away and there's a honor bar with VERY reasonable prices so you can have a libation and read, relax and enjoy the ocean steps away.

We were lucky to have found Diving Pelican Inn.

Cathryn and Jim were the best hosts! So friendly and helpful. :-)

Our room was awsome! Beds were more that great and the coffee maker was just what we needed. The dvd player came in handy when we got stuck for 3 days due to a heavy rain storm!
Jim cooks up an omelette for breakfast which keeps you going till the evening when you go to the neighbour for dinner at their resturant.
Cathryn had arranged for our activities before we arrived. Due to the weather we could not do any, but had great walks on the beach in the rain instead. Best place ever to get stuck!
