We arrived at Pico Bonito the middle of Sept. 2012 on a hot humid day and were greeted with a ice cold wash cloth and ice cold water. We knew we were in Heaven! We were very fortunate that we were the only 4 in the lodge and we had a very attentive staff. Our own private piece of Paradise. It was very beautiful, the birding was great even at this time of year, the cabins were very comfortable, clean and cozy, the guides were excellent and the food was excellent. Everyone that works there made sure we had all we needed and they all had a lot of knowledge of their surroundings. We would recommend this to anyone that wants a quiet retreat in the jungle. Thank you to all that made our stay so wonderful. Dan and Judy

Room Tip: The connecting cabin worked well for our group of two couples.

This is a fantastic resort at the entrance to the Pico Bonito National Park. As soon as we walked in, every single person working at the Lodge treated us like royalty. The setting, service, food and rooms are all top-notch, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend our one-year anniversary. It’s a place where you don’t mind being “trapped” in the middle of a rainstorm, because the resort allows you to be in the middle of the jungle without having to rough it. Enjoying a bottle of merlot sitting on wicker chairs while emerald hummingbirds buzz about in the pounding rain is a level of luxury and magic that is hard to beat. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would highly recommend the Lodge to anyone debating on a place to stay near the park or in La Ceiba.

The two nights vacation we had in La-Ceiba was very good. the lodges are located inside the Pico-Bonita preserved rain-forest, where it is possible to see some wild-life.
The rooms are clean and nice and the food in the restaurant is excellent. also, the staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in the complex is serene and calm.
We took the complementary hike in the jungle and found the guide interesting the funny. also, he had good English, which is sometimes hard to find in Honduras.

However, September might not be the best time to travel due to the rain. The rain probably prevented us from seeing some typical jungle wild-life, like howler monkeys or Tucans.
Also, we found it hard to get use to "sleeping in the wild" - the typical jungle noises might be disturbing.
Lastly, we found it irritating that although the place is prestige, we had to pay for a cup of tea.

Room Tip: It is recommended to have a lodge near the office/restaurant.

Yes, sometimes the jungle could be a bit noisy specially after a long rain, animals just want to get out and make noise.

Lovely private location to get back in tune with your self and nature. Absolutely gorgeous for any occasion!
From meditation, to hiking to special celebrations. Very attentive personnel ;) secluded bungalows with hammocks, you can lay back and listen to every bit of nature imaginable..or every rain drop.
I love this place!!

We had a fabulous visit to the Lodge at Pico Bonito - from start to finish! Our accommodations were tops- beautiful and clean and charming. We are not pool people, but it was a great place to hang out and meet other fascinating visitors. The birds and wildlife were amazing. Be sure to check out the night light/ insect cloth - really cool! We met local kids down by the river, and while we struggled with language, we all communicated via daring high jumps into the river, binoculars for looking at local birds, and coke in picnic glasses! Not soon forgotten!

Breakfast was very good. Our only suggestion would be to improve the quality of the dinner menu offerings. As a captive audience, there are really no other options and we were, at best, underwhelmed by quality of the evening offerings. The setting was top notch as were the drinks and the service. But the dinner was not up to par given the excellent experience otherwise.

The Lodge at Pico Bonito exceeded our expectations! We had a fabulous trip exploring nature and getting away from all the electronics - we did not tell the kids (ages 9 and 11) they could get wifi at the lodge. The staff was polite and so helpful. They took care of all our excursion plans and made the trip sooo easy! We never felt threatened or unsafe. You can relax or make every day an outdoor adventure.. Rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and relaxing. Property grounds were amazingly beautiful!! So many exotic plants and wildlife to see. We spent time hiking in the rainforest and everyone enjoyed the swimming pool and natural falls! Food was very good and they made special kid meals. Great family retreat. We highly recommend it and hope we have the opportunity to return!

Room Tip: We had 2 kids, 2 adults. Take a cabin with 2 queen beds, not 1 king - Or you can request 2 cabins th...

As an animal and plant lover, this tropical paradise offers a feast for the senses with it's beautiful collection of flowers and native plants, as well as surprise encounters with a variety of birds, monkeys, and wildlife who enhabit the surrounding area.

As a food lover, I was thrilled with the quality of the dining experience, often enjoying my dinner by candlelight on my private deck with nothing but the sound of the jungle to distract me. The service was impecible.

As a recovering cancer patient, I loved the fact that the world really did move at MY pace in this place, allowing me to hike, walk, discover, or simply lay in my hammock reading a book. There is a wonderful river excursion that also allows you to visit te sea after encounters with howler monkeys, tiny bats, beautiful birds and butterflies in their natural environment.

I was also very immpressed with the hands on approach of the management team, who are very educated about all of the plant and animal life, and made themselves available to the guests to answer questions and extend ideas on how to maximize the experience.

Thanks to Pico Bonito for an amazing trip!!
