For my wifes birthday this year I invited 4 of her girl friends to join us for a quick trip to Las Cascadas Lodge. From the pickup to the drop off it was as relaxing and enjoyable a time as I can remember. We hit the waterfalls on hikes, did a bit of river rafting and swimming, chilled at the lodge, listed to and watched the birds, ate like kings and queens, drank a bit of wine and slept so very well with the soothing sound of the waterfall enveloping our luxurious rooms.

Great team with Ryan, Olven (chef) and all the other team members. We felt well cared for in a luxurious but not pretentious environment.

Can not wait to go back

After 10 days of island-hopping, our 3 teenagers were ready to go home. They rebounded the instant we entered Las Cascadas. Our host Ryan planned challenging adventures to explore the highlights of the river, jungle, and local lifestyle. Then we returned to all-inclusive gourmet meals, plush robes and bedding, and attentive staff, - wrapped in exotic foliage and clear waterfalls. Ryan and Team ensured we felt secure and pampered from the moment we stepped off the ferry until we were delivered to the airport. Perfect combination of comfort and adventure!

I went to Las Cascadas for my 10th wedding anniversary. The scenery is like a living post card idilic. From the outset you are made at home, Ryan is an excellent host and Olvin is a fantastic chef he cooks the tastiest meals. The room was ideal with a view of the waterfall and the surrounding forest. You are left to your own devises or Ryan can organise trips or activities. The resort is ideal retreat from everything, there are walks on site that you can do at your own pace. There is a walk to the top waterfall which is secluded and idilic again like something on a post card and photoshopped bit it is real. Had a fantastic time there the staff and facilities were 5 Star.

While researching a beach trip to Roatan on Tripadvisor, I happened to find this jungle paradise, Las Cascadas. We split our trip 4 days in La Ceiba Las Cascadas and 3 days on the beach in Roatan. The days spent at Las Cascadas were fabulous and we wished that we had scheduled all 7 days at the lodge!
We landed in Roatan from Atlanta and our plan was to take the ferry to La Ceiba where Ryan, the friendly manager of Las Cascadas, would pick us up promptly at the dock. Our ferry trip went off without a hitch and Ryan was waiting for us when we arrived. He warmly welcomed us and we got into his van for the 15 minute trip up into the mountainous jungle.
The property is located right off the main road which takes you to Pico Bonito National Park and the Cangrejul River.
The property consists of a main lodge with two attached, "room lodges" in the rear on the left and right of the entrance, and the Bejuco cabin. There are only three total guest quarters so you are assured individual attention from Ryan and the chef Olvin, as well as plenty of privacy. We were lucky enough to stay at the Bejuco cabin which offeres you the most privacy and seclusion. The cabin features a ceiling fan and a nice breeze from the multiple screens keeps you cool. There also is an air conditioner which we did not utilize. As you can see from the cabin photos, the bathroom features a nice romantic bathtub and outdoor shower for two. The exterior of the property features a nice pool with beautiful patio and landscaping. It is just a short walk from the main lodge and the cabin. The rear of the main lodge features a waterfall to listen to at night and admire during the day. There also is another higher waterfall just a short walk above the lodge waterfall where you can swim and relax in view of the lodge. For the more adventurous, there is a physically challenging hike to the highest of the 3 waterfalls on the property with great views along the way. You can swim as well in this highest waterfall on the property to cool off before venturing back to the lodge.
Another nice feature of the lodge is the wonderful food! Chef Olvin will make you any meal you desire depending upon availability of ingredients. We had steak, fish, pasta with shrimp for dinner. Shrimp salad and ham sandwiches for lunch, and fruit salad and eggs by request for breakfast. Olvin was friendly and personable and also took me for a hike to the highest waterfall. He was truly a pleasure and an asset to Las Cascadas,
Ryan did an outstanding job of making us feel welcome, answering our questions, fulfilling our requests and chatting about Honduras and his personal experiences in the country.
Ryan also took us into town for souvenir shopping and our first trip to a Honduran Dunkin Doughnuts. Earlier that day he took us to a nature preserve to observe native animals recouperating on a working farm. We saw reptiles, birds, monkees and even an anteater!
We really were lucky to have Ryan running the property and he is all about Las Cascadas.
If you want to find a romantic property with excellent food, lovely grounds, nice pool, great hosts and three waterfalls, the Las Cascadas Lodge is for you!

Finding words to describe Las Cascadas is difficult. Of all the specialty hotels I have visited this place is absolutely #1 on my list! From the moment you go through the gate you are transformed into an amazing tropical hide-a-way that could absolutely be a movie set.

Comprised of the main house with living and dining areas, a small bar area and the kitchen and two bedroom suites plus two private cabins this place gives off a feeling of tranquility hard to find ANYWHERE!

The water walls, visible from almost everywhere provides a restful background noise plus a wonderful natural pool for your own private swimming pool or you can chose the lovely pool and spa also on the grounds.

The staff is awesome and Ryan and Maggie are superb hosts. Everyone works to insure your every need while giving you complete privacy. The chef prepares your meals to your personal wishes and serves them to you in the dining area.

This is an amazing resort and we will be back. We have stayed at all of the hotels in the Pico Bonito area (except Omega Lodge) and this will always be our favorite!

Room Tip: I would suggest the cabins over the two rooms in the house however they are all beautiful!

I am not usually inspired enough to write "good" reviews for hotels on Tripadvisor. I usually prefer to warn other travellers when I have had a "bad" experience. However, Las Cascadas has certainly changed that for me.

This place is simply fantastic. Proceeding through the gates and up the driveway is like transporting yourself into your own secluded oasis, with beautiful foliage abounding. Walking through the door of the main lodge, to see straight through the open-plan building and out to the waterfall (presumably after which the property was named) cascading into a clear pond, mere steps away from the lodge, gives the property an immediate "wow factor" the likes of which I have seldom experienced. The immediate property actually has three waterfalls, the lower and middle falls are steps away from the lodge, whilst the absolutely breath-taking upper falls a 15 minute hike, which is extremely worth the effort.

At the time of writing, there were only three rooms available for rent, two in the main lodge and a separate cabin. The necessary result of this is a feeling of exclusivity. We stayed in one of the rooms in the main lodge which was exquisite, but all rooms were of a very high standard and the location is just such a quiet, beautiful, unique spot. Almost as unique as the scenery was the level of service we experienced from the staff. Even prior to our stay, Ryan was by far and away the most pro-active and accommodating "hotel manager" I have ever dealt with. We had consistent email correspondence about our preferences for food, accommodation and tour options. When we arrived, Ryan and Maggie continued to ensure that all aspects of our stay were enjoyable, be it with a drink when we "needed" it, or by arranging (and personally driving us) on a tour of the local wildlife refuge when the itinerary of the "off the shelf" tour did not suit our specific needs. Ryan also told us that Chef Olvin gets just as many positive reviews as the waterfalls and we could easily see why. He is a hard-working maestro in the kitchen whose meals were worthy of a high standard restaurant. He too was always friendly and always interactive with us to ensure the menu was catered to our personal tastes.

However, the most impressive feature of our stay at Las Cascadas was how accommodating the property, scenery and staff were to the fact that we were a family with three small children, aged 4, 2 and 4 months. Las Cascadas does not seem to specifically market itself to families, nor should it, as the secluded and romantic feel is part of its allure. We were initially hesitant to take small children to a property that may not have the infrastructure to accommodate them. However, Ryan, Maggie and Olvin made our stay perfect. The kids loved the house, the grounds, the pools and the waterfalls and the tours we were able to do were "low-impact" enough to be able to do them with three kids, whilst being interesting enough to keep them entertained. Our kids had a ball on our stay and Ryan, Maggie and Olvin bent over backwards to accommodate us.

I cannot recommend Las Cascadas highly enough. We hope to go back very soon.

My wife organised the complete trip, all I had to do was turn up and enjoy it. This place is perfect, we had the lodge with the outside shower, it was beautiful. I cannot recommend the stay highly enough. The staff, (Ryan,Maggie and Olvin) were really helpful, informative and very professional. As we left Olvin gave us some of his home made chilli sauce and I am sad to say we have just finished it...a valentines day 5 hr hike to the big waterfall saved me having to buy chocolate and Olvin showed me how to wash using the foliage from the hedge by the river bank..you should go.
