“Great view, breakfast but room is small for the price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2010

It has great view of the mountains of Guatemala across the border, especially in the morning with a cup of good coffee and excellent breakfast. Free flow of purified water, tea and coffee all day.

The room was a little small for two persons and two beds. We asked for two beds and they gave us a room with one double bed and one single bed. We supposed it would be fine for a couple to share the room with just the double bed. The single bed seemed rather out of place, on the way between the door to the bathroom. There was limited space to put your stuff - two very small tables, a small rack as wardrobe. At other places with the same price, we got much better accommodation so we did not find it to be of good value.

Thank you for your comments. We value the feedback of our guests. We offered the guests a dbl room which normally has one double bed, we added an extra single bed to accomodate the two women who wished to share a room together. We are sorry for any inconvenience due to the fact that we added an extra bed. We have two larger rooms, both with a lovely valley view and two beds in each room, but unfortunately those two rooms were occupied on those nights. We always strive to provide our guests with a room which fits their needs and we are sorry the guests in this case found their room on the small side - but consideration must be given to the fact that the room usually contains only one double bed - and the extra bed was added at the request of the guests so that they could share the room.

We are pleased that you enjoyed our breakfasts, our wonderful locally sourced organic coffee and our lovely valley view in the mornings. We strive to always provide a memorable experience to all our guests.

This lovely hotel is owned and run by Anglo/Honduran couple who have created a small paradise. The rooms are very clean and medium sized with hot water and ceiling fans that are hardly needed in this cooler climate. You step out your door on to the porch where your hammock and chairs are located with a beautiful view of the garden that surrounds you as well as the distant view of jungle covered mountains. When the staff sees you sitting outside, they bring you wonderful Honduran coffee, or later in the day, iced tea. Sit at one of the garden tables and the staff brings you a plate of luscious tropical fruits, toast, omelettes and juice--all included in the in the incredible low cost of a stay here. We spoke to other hotel owners who live in Honduras and choose this hotel when they travel to Copan

loved copan ruinas.. loved la casa de cafe too! very clean rooms with big windows and soft curtains with extra blankets & towels, cute little courtyard outlined in hammocks, free wifi, wonderful showers & comfortable beds, free coffee/tea/water anytime you want, delicious & filling breakfast too! the guy at the front desk, sid, was a huge help with everything & one of the owners even drove us to the bus station in the morning (not that we were far from town.. just about a block, but still, who wants to carry a pack at 7am?). all for a great price too. a triple for 2 nights was about $120 total.

I frequently stay in Copan while working on Maya archeology. Casa de Cafe is always my choice. Casa de Cafe is dependably cheerful and welcoming, clean and comfortable, well located and reasonably priced. The rooms are very well appointed and private. The grounds are colorful and refreshing and it's cool to lay in your own hammock watching bananas grow right outside your door. Breakfast, outdoors or in, is very substantial and tasty. They provide free water for the traveler, a common living room with television and library, free coffee and tea anytime, and coffee for sale. The landlord is a long time resident and can give timely advice on whatever the town has to offer.

I visited this B&B with my wife, mother and two girls in Jan 2010. Although it proved tricky at first to arrive at the location, the rooms were clean, the scenery was magnificent, the breakfast delicious and with unlimited amounts of caffeine throughout the day. Copan in itself is wonderful and quaint, so staying in this B&B made it even better by providing excellent accomodation at reasonable prices. Because of its location you get to enjoy the silence of the night and the cool breeze of Western Honduras. I recommend it to anyone wanting to relax in a comfortable and secure environment. I advice you not to feed the cats in the garden, they will remain outside your door through the night waiting for more food.

Casa de Café, Copan Ruinas, Honduras

We stayed twice in the Casa de Café this summer 2009, in September. The first visit was whilst enroute to the Islas de Bahia , - Roátan – in Honduras when we decided to discover Copan Ruinas. The second visit was for an overnight on the way back to Guatemala City. A description of the town, its history and its people, is for another day. Suffice it to say, its well worth a visit.

We stayed at the Casa de Café as a result of reading recommendations on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. The accommodation, which is in a quiet area at the outskirts of the town, yet only a very short walk from its centre, was quite lovely with all of its rooms opening onto two gardens at different levels.

The rooms were furnished in a most tasteful and minimalist style. Each had the much needed ceiling fan; the shower that produced an endless supply of hot water and the welcome hammock strung outside on the veranda to allow guests laze in the shade whilst avoiding the midday sun.

The breakfasts, served in the upper garden, offered endless possibilities. No shortage here as regards variety, quality or quantity. Nothing was too much trouble for our exceptionally charming and enthusiastic waitress. She was determined that we would both enjoy a completely different breakfast every day. Coffee, tea, bread, toast , fruit salad, cereal, orange, huevos rancheros …and the list goes on etc.

The gardens of the Casa de Café are really beautiful and are richly adorned with plants such as orchids and ferns. These provided welcome shade throughout the sunny days. We were in awe of the blue/green hummingbird which made regular visits to the tall flowers. The view from the garden towards the SE over the long Copan Valley was splendid, corralled by tall mountains on both sides.

Our most pleasant stay at the Casa de Café was, of course, due to the excellent attention of Howard, his wife Angela and nephew Sid who were pleasant and knowledgeable hosts. They were generous with their advice about the local area, its historical and leisure attractions. They also kindly made themselves available for pick-ups from and drop-offs to the bus depot for which we were most grateful having regard to our rather unnecessarily heavy “mochillos’.

We would , without hesitation, recommend this B&B in Copan Ruinas.
( ps: they also own a beautiful and well equipped house for longer rentals, across the road).
